NBCUniversal cancels E! News - again

by Thinus Ferreira

NBCUniversal has cancelled E! News on E! (DStv 124) again with the last episode that will be shown on 25 September.

E! News was cancelled after 29 years in 2020 just 8 months after the show's production and studio was moved from Los Angeles to New York.

NBCUniversal then revived E! News in November 2022 and moved production back to Los Angeles and has now cancelled it again.

E! News is currently co-hosted by Keltie Knight and Justin Sylvester.

There's been no statement about the E! News cancellation from NBCUniversal, which is getting rid of E! as well as other of its traditional pay-TV channels, into a new company that it initially named SpinCo and which is now Versant.

NBCUniversal International Networks distributes a version of E! to MultiChoice's DStv in South Africa and the rest of Africa.

Very little original programming remains on E! as the channel has been steadily dismantled over the past years with E! now close to being another of the numerous pay-TV zombie channels filled with old repeats and repurposed shows from other channels.

Content like E! Live from the Red Carpet that used to be shown live on E! is now also stale with NBCUniversal International Networks that keeps using the name to give the fake appearance that it's "live" but instead shows it late as recorded content for DStv viewers in South Africa and across the continent.

With E! News gone from October there will be even less reason for DStv subscribers to watch E!.

According to American reports the E! News staff were told on Thursday that the show is over. Thursday's episode of E! News was also scrapped and replaced by a repeat. The first new E! News episode will be next week.

E! News to return to E! from 14 November with Justin Sylvester and Adrienne Bailon-Houghton as presenters.

by Thinus Ferreira

E! is reviving its daily E! News show that was cancelled in mid-2020 after 29 years, with the "reimagined" E! News which will debut on Monday 14 November on E! (DStv 124) with two Adrienne Bailon-Houghton and Justin Sylvester as the two new presenters.

E! cancelled multiple of the NBCUniversal pay-TV channel's shows in 2020, with the schedule of the E! channel feed for Africa that has been padded by more and more content from the E! sister channel Bravo not available in sub-Saharan Africa. E! also recently cancelled The Daily Pop and The Nightly Pop shows.

E! News was synonymous with E! presenters and reporters like Giuliana Rancic, Ryan Seacrest, Jason Kennedy, Terrence Jenkins, Samantha Harris, Catt Sadler and a range of others, until the show's production moved from Los Angeles to New York for a short-lived period and was axed, with the E! News brand continuing as a web-only presence for the past two years.

"The reimagined E! News serves as the premiere late-night destination for movie, music, television and pop culture fans," says E! in a statement.

"Justin Sylvester and Adrienne Bailon-Houghton will break down the hottest entertainment news of the day, conduct in-studio celebrity guest interviews and bring all the hottest trends and exclusive scoop from movie premieres, award shows and concerts, making sure viewers are kept current on all the day's top stories."

Tracie Wilson, executive vice president at NBCUniversal syndication studios and E! News, in the statement says "E! News has a long history of entertainment news excellence and we are excited to bring the show back and continue its legacy".

"John Redman and John Pascarella are strategic, respected executive producers with stellar reputations and Justin and Adrienne are charismatic, seasoned hosts with a genuine interest in pop culture. This is the perfect team to bring a fresh take to this franchise."

Giuliana Rancic exits as E! red carpet host after 18 years, will continue working on a content development deal with NBCUniversal.

by Thinus Ferreira

Giuliana Rancic is done with doing red carpet coverage for E! (DStv 124) after 18 years, announcing her exit that comes threemonths after Ryan Seacrest announced his departure after 14 years and two months after Jason Kennedy said that he was leaving E! in March after 16 years.

It means that the recent 93rd Academy Awards in Los Angeles marked Giuliana Rancic's final Live From the Red Carpet coverage duty at an American awards show since she started in 2003.

Linear American pay-TV channels like E! are struggling to remain relevant as the corporate groups they belong to are repurposing and moving content to their respective new video streaming services and are refocusing their content investment on creating shows for streaming as opposed to linear broadcasting.

Giuliana Rancic announced her exit as E!'s red carpet host in a statement that she also posted on her Instagram account, saying that "I have decided to step out of my red carpet heels into a new pair of shoes. To my E! family, thank you for allowing me to make my red carpet dreams come true for the past two decades. It has truly been a highlight of my career and life."

Giuliana Rancic will continue to work with NBCUniversal, the parent company of E!, with the "new pair of shoes" that is in reference to a new content development deal that she has signed.

E! in a statement says that "While we will all miss watching Giuliana bring her iconic interview style, infectious humor and keen sense of fashion to E!'s red carpet, we are excited to announce a development deal across NBCUniversal where she will bring her passion projects to life".

"We look forward to collaborating with Giuliana in the future and we will always be her biggest fans - on and off the carpet."

Giuliana Rancic was a correspondent for E! News that saw her elevated to managing editor and co-host since 2005 until 2015 when she left. Giuliana Rancic returned in September 2018 and finally left again when E! News moved from Los Angeles to New York in January 2020 that got cancelled in August last year.

Giuliana also did a 7 season reality show Giuliana and Bill for the Style Network and E! with her husband Bill Rancic and she also served as a panellist of Fashion Police on E! with host Joan Rivers from 2010 to 2017.

Jason Kennedy the next on-air talent to leave E! after 16 years, says he wants to 'explore new opportunities'.

by Thinus Ferreira

Jason Kennedy is the next E! (DStv 124) talent to exit NBCUniversal's increasingly-dimming entertainment channel saying he is pursuing new opportunities after 16 years.

E! cancelled its biggest draw, Keeping Up with the Kardashians with the Calabasas-based Kardashian-clan in California that will be doing a new reality TV series for Disney+; with E! News, In the Room and Pop in the Morning that all got cancelled, and red carpet host Ryan Seacrest who quit last month.

Jason Kennedy joined E! and E! News in 2005 and eventually became the co-anchor of E! News next to Giuliana Rancic.

In a statement, Jason Kennedy says "I've had the time of my life at E!. Most recently, I loved being the host of In the Room, but Covid made it impossible to capture interviews with celebrities in a more personal setting, so I have decided to explore new opportunities".

"I'm leaving with a grateful and full heart thinking about my experience, and the lifelong friendships I've made along the way at E!. I have a slate of exciting projects that I've been working on and I can't wait to share with you soon."

CANCE!LLATION SHOCKE!R. E! News on E! Entertainment cancelled after 29 years; Pop of the Morning and In the Room also axed as remaining E! studio shows move back to Los Angeles in cost-cutting move.

by Thinus Ferreira

After 29 years E! News on E! Entertainment (DStv 124) has been cancelled just 8 months after the show's production and studio was moved in January this year from Los Angeles to New York.

The entertainment news show that has been a veritable TV institution for decades, is over.

Along with E! News, Pop Of the Morning, as well as Jason Kennedy's celebrity interview show, In the Room have also been cancelled. E! is also moving all remaining studio production back to Los Angeles.

Variety on Tuesday night first reported E! News' cancellation, citing NBCUniversal that runs E! as a pay-TV channel that is "looking to streamline its programming and restructure internally to create more efficiencies".

The dramatic impact of the global Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic also played a role with E! News and other E! shows that went off the air in mid-March 2020 for months, similar to what happened in South Africa and in the TV industries in several other countries. E! News only recently returned to the E! schedule.

Lilliana Vazquez and Scott Tweedie have been the E! News co-anchors since January 2020 after Giuliana Rancic and Jason Kenny left E! News in late-2019 after producer Tammy Filler who joined E! as new news operations boss decided to move E!'s studio news shows to New York from 2020.

South African viewers got their first glimpse of the orange-and-white E! News Daily as it was then known, when M-Net (DStv 101) and e.tv in the late 90's acquired the show and would programme individual insert strips or episodes as filler programming, while it had Jules Asner and Steve Kmetko as the co-hosts - with a  goldfish.

E! News Daily morphed into the red-letter E! News Live with John Burke. From 2006 E! News Live became E! News with Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana DePandi (later Rancic) who took over as the new co-anchors.

In interviews over the years, Giuliana spoke several times of how E! News was on the verge of cancellation at E! in 2005 when she agreed to become the managing editor of the show, with a tight deadline from E! bosses to lift ratings for the show that faced the axe. She managed to save it.

After Ryan Seacrest left as co-anchor, Giuliana Rancic first had Terrence Jenkins, and then Jason Kennedy as co-hosts.

Catt Sadler stood in as co-anchor when Giuliana was away or on leave, but in December 2017 Catt Sadler announced that she had left, slamming E! over allegations of gender discrimination and unequal pay for women.

When Giuliana Rancic left E! News in mid-2015, Maria Menounos took over as co-host, but after 3 years Giuliana was back next to Jason as the co-hosts since September 2018. Both said goodbye when the show's production and studio moved from Los Angeles to New York from January 2020.

Lilliana Vazquez and Scott Tweedie have anchoring E! News since January for the past 8 months.

Longtime E! News viewers will remember Ted Casablanca who did Hollywood gossip and "blind items" in his "The Awful Truth" segment, as well as Kristin dos Santos, E!'s resident TV expert who brought viewers news about television.

E! News correspondents who rose to fame through the show over the years range from Samantha Harris and Ken Baker, to Zuri Hall, Marc Malkin, Nina Parker and Melanie Bromley.

Giuliana Rancic once again exits as co-anchor of E! News on E! the as entertainment news show relocates to New York.

Giuliana Rancic is once again leaving as the co-anchor of E! News on E! (DStv 124) just over a year after her full-time return - this time because NBCUniversal is restructuring and relocating E! News from Los Angeles to New York City from January 2020.

Giuliana isn't willing to uproot her already-busy family life and says "I love E! News but what’s best for my family, as well as my current schedule, just won’t allow for the commitment a daily show takes".

Giuliana, who've battled infertility and breast cancer, plans to remain involved in her several other business ventures, while she and her husband Bill are also pondering whether to add to their family with their son Duke (7).

She is also adamant that she will return to E! News on occasion, and will continue to anchor E!'s red carpet coverage for big award shows.

In an announcement on Instagram, Giuliana Rancic (45) says "As the show moves to New York City in January, many of you have asked if I will be returning full-time. I wanted to let you hear firsthand that I’ve decided I won’t be able to make this big move at this time."

"I love E! News but what’s best for my family, as well as my current schedule, just won’t allow for the commitment a daily show takes."

"As you may know, I lead several businesses ... my clothing line G by Giuliana, Fountain of Truth skincare, and my role at RPM Restaurant Group, which is about to open its sixth location, keep me very active. In order to properly serve these and my other endeavours, flexibility is paramount,” she writes.

"Nothing is more important than spending time with my family, which we are hoping to grow soon."

"That said, I will of course continue hosting Live from the Red Carpet and promise to pop into E! News from time to time," Giuliana wrote.

"I adore and appreciate the great folks at E! for continuing to be incredible partners and understanding my decision and I appreciate you all for always being so supportive and kind. Love you all and I will see you next month at the E! People’s Choice Awards."

E! News on E! switching in 2020 from Los Angeles and prime time to New York and becoming a morning show as dozens of staffers are let go; new shows added to E!.

E! (DStv 124) is changing its weekday E! News done from Los Angeles in the United States from a prime time show to a morning show from 2020 that will be produced from New York, with up to 25 staffers who are getting retrenched.

In a statement, the channel supplied by NBCUniversal International Networks (NBCUIN) and carried on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV service in South Africa and across Africa and that has broadcast the day-after's episode of E! News on the channel at 19:00 for many years, announced that E! News will become a 07:00 morning show done from New York.

According to industry reports from the United States, dozens of E! News staff on Los Angeles, some of whom have been with the show for over a decade, started to cry when they were told they're losing their jobs following a meeting on Tuesday.

It's not clear when or if Giuliana Rancic and Jason Kennedy as two main E! News co-anchors doing the show from Los Angeles, will move to New York.

E! News, currently broadcast in more than 160 countries around the globe, will according to E! "evolve into a morning show at 07:00 out of 30 Rock in New York. The series will continue to feature the most talked-about stories in entertainment in a fast-paced, social and entertaining way that's tailored to a young, hyper-connected audience."

"The move to a morning time slot will allow fans to get their pop culture updates first thing in the morning and offer insights on celebrity stories that will unfold throughout the day."

In its statement, E! says it will expand its entertainment news programming with further "new hours of original weekday content" in 2020.

Tammy Filler, the executive vice president & editor-in-chief of E! News who joined E! in May 2019, will lead the channel's linear news expansion, which will include a variety of pop culture commentary formats, an in-home celebrity interview series, a weekly review show, as well as the New York-based E! News morning and daytime news series.

E! says the Nightly Pop series will expand to four nights per week and that the daytime series Daily Pop will continue to be broadcast on weekdays.

"The linear expansion complements E! News' tremendous multi-platform growth as the leading entertainment news source for millennial women," says E!

"The E! News footprint is unparalleled, and our growth continues with this investment in more edgy, comedic, personality-driven linear programming," says Tammy Filler.

"We undoubtedly live in a 24/7 world where entertainment news is just a click away but what our viewers crave is analysis, commentary and point-of-view that goes deeper than a headline. We are leaning into what is uniquely E! and building on our success with a second home in New York and more hours of coverage."

In 2020 E! will add In the Room (working title) as a new series that will take viewers inside celebrity homes for in-depth interviews and conversation around their latest projects, products, passions and more.

Pop of the Morning (working title), similar to the LA-based Daily Pop but done from New York, will feature a panel of personalities delivering irreverent and unfiltered conversations centred around the buzziest entertainment news stories of the day.

BingE! Club (working title) will be a new weekly review series that will discuss what TV shows, movies, music, social sensations, viral videos and more that pop culture fans should be binge-watching.

E! says it is also "developing two additional celebrity and pop culture commentary formats to be broadcast in 2020" but didn't name or describe these shows.

E! presenter Morgan Stewart has been in an 'inappropriate relationship' for 2 years with former E! News executive - report.

Morgan Steward E! News host work affair

The E! Entertainment (DStv 124) presenter Morgan Stewart has been in an "inappropriate relationship" with a former E! executive for two years while both are married the New York Post's Page Six reports.

Morgan Stewart who is married to her former Rich Kids of Beverly Hills co-star Brendan Fitzpatrick, has had an "inappropriate relationship" with former E! executive Bryce Kristensen, who is also married, Page Six reports, citing multiple insider sources.

An NBCUniversal insider said "the whole company knows" and that it was reported because it became so obvious. Both Morgan Stewart and Bryce Kristensen denied it.

Bryce Kristensen was let go in January after he was at E! for 9 years and during that time moved from manager of digital media to head of E!'s digital content lab and vice president of digital development and production at E! News.

Several other insiders spoke of how they witnessed various forms of flirting. E! assistants also suspected that their was more going on since the two would allegedly coordinate their hotel room stays, and another source said Morgan Stewart and Bryce Kristensen would even stay in the same hotel room together.

E! has allegedly started an investigation but didn't want to confirm it but said in a statement that "while we will not be commenting on this matter, E! takes all allegations of inappropriate behaviour seriously, investigates accordingly and takes appropriate action".

"I think it was endemic of a problem at E!," said one source. "You have two married people at a company in this #MeToo environment with a bunch of young millennial women working there - it sends a horrible message."

Another source said "It's really hypocritical because she's on air talking about Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson and other affairs in the news, and for people who have knowledge about the situation, it's just, like, 'Her? Really?' It's not a good look for the company."

Kristen Stewart is part of the E! News team that is broadcast at 19:05 on E! Entertainment and a co-host of Nightly Pop.

In Africa the boss of MultiChoice Uganda, the married Charles Hamya will be gone at the end of this month as general manager of MultiChoice Uganda following his torrid office extra-marital affair with someone he worked with, with Phoebe Nakabazzi who is also out of her job as MultiChoice Uganda marketing manager.

Their embarrassing sex scandal cost both of them their positions after their MultiChoice office extra-marital affair was exposed to all staffers by Charles Hamya's angry wife who sent a company-wide email saying "This level of unprofessionalism should not be what MultiChoice Uganda stands for".

MultiChoice Africa staffers started wondering why MultiChoice allows extra-marital affairs between bosses and co-workers apparently without consequences when Charles Hamya returned in October 2018 as if nothing happened but at the beginning of 2019 the shamed MultiChoice Uganda boss finally decided to quit following apparent pressure from MultiChoice Africa leadership.

Giuliana Rancic returns to E! News on E! Entertainment after exactly 3 years: 'It's exciting to be back.'

Giuliana Rancic (44) has made her return to E! News as co-anchor next to Jason Kennedy (36) saying she wants to be part again of the rapidly changing landscape of entertainment news reporting.

Giuliana Rancic said she has many ideas for E! News that is fighting to remain relevant just like every other platform covering entertainment news, in the rapidly evolving, changing and highly competitive news sphere due to social media.

In a funny skit she filmed to herald her return to the nightly entertainment news show at 19:05 on E! Entertainment (DStv 124), she arrived at 10 Universal City Plaza, the building that the channel from NBCUniversal International Networks relocated to during her absence but gets blocked since she doesn't have an access card.

Once inside she takes a selfie but disguises it as doing facetime with Duke. Driven to studio with a golf cart she notes how "I didn't even have time to do an insta-story".

Giuliana Rancic - married to Bill Rancic and whose son is now 6 - then finds Jason Kennedy, doing "vocal warm-ups" but actually channeling Cardi B's iconic "Oh, grrrrrr" chirping noises.

During her first show back Jason Kennedy also surprised her with a Sky call from her former co-anchor Ryan Seacrest, with Giuliana Rancic who said "it's good to be back".

Giuliana Rancic and Jason Kennedy will co-host E!'s red carpet coverage of the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards live from midnight on Tuesday 18 September until M-Net (DStv 101) broadcast the awards ceremony live from 02:00 in South Africa.

"It's exciting. It's just been over three years since my last day at E! News and now here I am again," Giuliana Rancic told E!'s Daily Pop show.

"When the opportunity came up, obviously we thought long and hard because our lives are great. Bill is very, very supportive of me and my dreams and career and so we work together as a family to make it happen. And I would do the same for Bill if Bill had an opportunity that come up that he wants to do."

Entertainment news changing
She told Us Weekly that she took a break and "I've been there a long time, it was definitely my home and I stayed on with E! for red carpets and specials and Royal Weddings but it was just time to move to Chicago where my husband is from and we have restaurants there."

"So my son was starting school and we've always had that understanding that when it's time for Duke to start school we'll move to Chicago. And so that's what we did. It was also a time to be a mom and a wife and a friend but also I had these other businesses I've been working on."

"And to take them to the next level you need focus. You need to put time and effort into them and so that's what I did for the past three years and also grew some of the other businesses as well."

Giuliana Rancic said returning to E! News "took a lot of conversation between my husband and I" and that "we wanted to make sure that it was the right decision for everyone - this isn't just about me, it's also about my family".

"Having been gone for three years, it's interesting. I've been a viewer for three years - and not just E! News, the other entertainment news shows, digital. I've had time to watch, and I had time to really watch as a viewer watches, instead of being on the other side."

"And I have had just so many ideas especially the past year of just different ways we could be doing stuff - all of us. So it's really interesting going in with this new perspective, having been away."

"I feel like the landscape is changing so much with news and entertainment news, that how can I be a part of this and bring something fresh and new to people?"

MultiChoice claims 'eNews' is one of the most watched channels on DStv Now while no such channel exists; adds Discovery's set of channels to DStv Now from January.

MultiChoice claims that the 'eNews' channel is one of the most watched TV channels live streamed on its DStv Now service - despite the fact that no such channel exists.

MultiChoice's DStv Now service from its DStv Digital Media division announced that it also further expanded its over-the-top (OTT) channel collection in January 2018 that now includes Discovery Channel, TLC, Discovery Family and ID Investigation Discovery.

MultiChoice in a press release on Monday, said that the 'eNews' channel was one of the most watched channels on its DStv Now service during December 2017.

The problem is that eNews isn't a channel. MultiChoice most likely means either E! Entertainment (DStv 124) from NBCUniversal International Networks, or eNCA (DStv 403) from eMedia Investments that used to be known as the eNews Channel until it changed its name more than 5 and a half years ago in August 2012.

"E! News" does exists as the name of a daily show segment on E! Entertainment - it is that channel's daily TV news programme - but it is very unlikely that MultiChoice means that.

MultiChoice was asked what exactly it means by "eNews" and when there's a response this report will update with that. Update:  MultiChoice says the "eNews" is in fact eNCA.

Oddly, MultiChoice in its press release also refers to "kykNet" (it's actually kykNET).

"The top live channels streaming during this time were the SuperSport channels, M-Net, eNews, Mzansi Magic, kykNet, Comedy Central and M-Net Movies Smile," says MultiChoice in its statement about December 2017 viewing on DStv Now.

MultiChoice notes that the most watched shows on DStv Now during December 2017 were Binnelanders, The Queen, Isibaya, Boer Soek ‘n Vrou, The Imposter, Premier League, Lockdown, Paw Patrol, international rugby, Shameless, Isithembiso and Getroud met Rugby.

MultiChoice says usage of its DStv Now service increased by 18% in December 2017 over November 2017.

"Almost 20% of total usage of DStv Now is coming from DStv Compact customers, who received access to the service in May last year," says MultiChoice.

MultiChoice says the bulk of DStv Now usage over the festive period came from Android devices in the Gauteng province.

"Local content and channels, along with SuperSport, continue to be the top performers across all platforms."

MultiChoice says it added the set of channels from Discovery Networks International from January 2018 to DStv Now as live streamed channels. These include Discovery Channel (DStv 121), TLC (DStv 135), Discovery Family (DStv 136) and ID Investigation Discovery (DStv 171).

Interestingly ID Investigation Discovery used to be IDx on DStv. However, at some point after Investigation Discovery was changed to IDx (ID Xtra) in January 2016, it has quietly changed back to ID on MultiChoice's platform.

Catt Sadler out at E!, slams the network for paying co-presenter Jason Kennedy 'double' her salary.

Catt Sadler (43) is out at E! Entertainment (DStv 124) where she was the co-anchor of its daily E! News and is slamming E!, saying her decision to leave was because she discovered that co-anchor Jason Kennedy (36) was making almost double her pay and E! was unwilling to pay her more.

Catt Sadler has been with E! Entertainment for 12 years and appeared on E! News for the past 7, stepping in as co-anchor after first Giuliana Rancic left and then Maria Menounos left because of cancer.

Besides co-anchoring E! NewsCatt Sadler, a divorced single mom since last year, also became a panelist on The Daily Pop since May.

Her last appearance was supposed to be on Wednesday but Tuesday turned out to be her abrupt E! on-air farewell.

In the last moment of E! News on Tuesday Catt Sadler said goodbye and told Jason Kennedy: "It has been an honor sharing this room with you my friend".

E! said "We will miss having Catt on set and appreciate her many contributions".

Now in a statement on her official website, The CattWalk, Catt Sadler is slamming E! and revealing why she quit, blaming E! for discriminating against women and pay discrepancies between what the entertainment network from NBCUniversal pays women and men doing the same jobs.

Catt Sadler says it's important for her to explain why she was forced to leave E!, and that she wanted to stay on with E! but the NBCUniversal channel didn't want to pay her more.

Catt Sadler says Jason Kennedy has been making almost double what she earns, for the past several years.

E! in a statement about the pay disparity says "E! compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender. We appreciate Catt Sadler’s many contributions at E! News and wish her all the best following her decision to leave the network".

Catt Sadler says "an executive from E! brought something alarming to my attention - namely that there was a massive disparity in pay between my similarly situated male co-host and myself".

"More recently, when E! reached out to renew and extend my deal, I learned that he wasn't just making a little more than I was."

I have two decades experience in broadcasting and started at the network the very same year as my close friend and colleague that I adore. But how can I operate with integrity and stay on at E! if they're not willing to pay me the same as him? Or at least come close?"

"How can I accept an offer that shows they do not value my contributions and paralleled dedication all these years?  How can I not echo the actions of my heroes and stand for what is right no matter what the cost?"

"How can I remain silent when my rights under the law have been violated?"

Catt Sadler says she asked E! "for what I know I deserve and were denied repeatedly".

Here is Catt Sadler's full statement:

"I know first hand that dreams do come true. For the past twelve years, I’ve been living mine out loud as one of the hosts on E! television."

"For more than a decade I’ve walked through the doors at E! and traveled into people’s living rooms around the world.

"I’ve reported from a royal wedding, the Olympics, and the Oscars. I’ve been to film festivals in France, movie premieres in Rio, and fashion week in Paris. I’ve gotten chased by the paparazzi on camera while shopping with Kris Jenner, co-hosted shows with Khloe, Kim and Kourtney, and interviewed Kendall and Kylie back in those early Keeping Up days when no one could remember their names.

"It has been unpredictable, intoxicating, rewarding and hard work. Five days a week since February 2006. First, for The Daily 10 and later for E! News.

"Then, this year happened. Daily Pop was born. I was named host which meant double duty. Hosting a live, two-hour daytime show while also hosting E! News most nights.

" It was creatively challenging but genuinely one of the most fulfilling years of my professional career. Coincidentally, around this same time an executive from E! brought something alarming to my attention - namely, that there was a massive disparity in pay between my similarly situated male co-host and myself.

"More recently, when E! reached out to renew and extend my deal, I learned that he wasn’t just making a little more than I was. In fact, he was making close to double my salary for the past several years.

"Information is power. Or it should be. We are living in a new era. The gender pay gap is shrinking, although admittedly we have a long way to go. And well, I learned this first hand. My team and I asked for what I know I deserve and were denied repeatedly.

"Know your worth. I have two decades experience in broadcasting and started at the network the very same year as my close friend and colleague that I adore. I so lovingly refer to him as my “TV husband” and I mean it.

"But how can I operate with integrity and stay on at E! if they’re not willing to pay me the same as him? Or at least come close? How can I accept an offer that shows they do not value my contributions and paralleled dedication all these years?

"How can I not echo the actions of my heroes and stand for what is right no matter what the cost? How can I remain silent when my rights under the law have been violated?

"It’s scary. I am a single mother of two boys. The unknown can be terrifying, but it can also be the most beautiful gift. Countless brave women have come forward this year to speak their truth. Females refuse to remain silent on issues that matter most because without our voices, how will we invoke lasting change? How can we make it better for the next generation of girls if we do not stand for what is fair and just today?

"It was my desire to stay at my job. To continue entertaining our loyal viewers around the world. To keep working alongside some of the best writers, directors, and producers in the game.

"Everyone from the studio crew, hair and makeup artists, to the security at the front door are true friends of mine. They have been my work family and I love them dearly. Unfortunately, however, my decision was made for me and I must go.

"I will find more work. I will create content with meaning. I will continue to pursue my passions while making my children proud. The way I see it, I have an obligation to be an agent for change.
It was important for me to explain my departure.

"I did not want to disappear from your television screens and have you wonder why. Thank you for your precious time all these years. Thank you for the support. Thank you for the constant exchange of ideas on social media as well. This chapter is over and a new one begins.

"Big big love, Catt"

E! Entertainment's E! News pulls correspondent Ken Baker off air indefinitely after shocking sexual harassment claims.

E! Entertainment's E! News has pulled correspondent Ken Baker (47) off air indefinitely following serious sexual harassment allegations.

Former E! News staffers have come forward with shocking sexual harassment claims against Ken Baker, who himself just weeks ago appeared on-air on E! Entertainment (DStv 124) to report his disgust and the shameful behaviour of the sexual predator executive Harvey Weinstein.

Ken Baker frequently appears on E! News on E! as well as on E!'s digital social media series Live from E!.

According to The Wrap that first reported Ken Baker being taken off air, one former E! News staffer said that Ken Baker in 2012 called her into his dimly lit office and asked her to sit on his lap.

Another female E! News worker at the NBCUniversal pay-TV channel said she was kissed by Ken Baker in 2011 without consent.

According to her, Ken Baker repeatedly asked her for sex and in 2015 send her a message on her phone, saying he wants to give her "a Tiffany dildo with Ken Baker engraved on the shaft".

The former worker shared a photo of Ken Baker's message to her.

Ken Baker that didn't deny the sexual harassment claims, in a statement says "I am very disturbed by these anonymous allegations, which make my heart ache."

"I take them very seriously. I care deeply for people’s feelings and sincerely live in a way that treats people with dignity and respect."

E! Entertainment in a statement says "E! has a longstanding commitment to providing a safe working environment in which everyone is treated with respect and dignity. We take all complaints of misconduct seriously, and thoroughly investigate all allegations of harassment."

As Giuliana Rancic says goodbye on her final episode anchoring E! News on E! Entertainment: Tears, bloopers - and a love letter from husband Bill.

There were tears, laughter, bloopers and a loving letter from her husband Bill as Giuliana Rancic signed off as the longtime anchor of E! News that DStv subscribers across Africa can see tonight (Tuesday) at 19:00 on E! Entertainment (DStv 124).

In Monday night's episode – always shown a day later on E! Entertainment's channel feed in Africa and which will be broadcast tonight on DStv – viewers will see Giuliana Rancic (40) give a tearful goodbye as she relinquishes her Hollywood news perch after 14 years.

The final episode fittingly honoured Giuliana Rancic by looking back at her biggest and hilarious on-air (and some off-air) bloopers – like waving to Gwyneth Paltrow as she stood beside the red carpet, desperately trying to get the star to come over, pleading that "Gwyneth, I always name you best dressed".

Other inserts and look-backs viewers will see tonight, include Giuliana's best TV moments like proposing to George Clooney in 2003, her countless hairstyles, and telling Miley Cyrus in 2008 "to stay sweet".

Maria Menounos who is replacing Giuliana Rancic was very conspicuously absent as behind the scenes rumours of a feud have been swirling the past few months.

At the end of the episode, sitting with co-presenters Terrence Jenkins, Catt Sadler and Jason Kennedy, Giuliana Rancic's voice became emotional as she shared her final thoughts and then started crying.

"I love you guys. You have made work so much fun," said Giuliana as she started to cry and Jason reached out to put his hand on her back. "You have made the past 14 years so much fun."

'We've been through so much together'
"As far as the viewers," she said as Giuliana looked into the camera, "we've been through so much together, and you've helped me every step of the way."

"Through trying to have a baby – those struggles. Through getting frown lines; crows feet – you've seen me getting it all. And of course breast cancer. That's honestly been the biggest struggle I've ever had to deal with in my life. And it was all those messages from the viewers who would watch every night. I thank you all for that."

Giuliana's husband Bill (44) who she met during an interview she did for E! News in 2006, attended the final episode.

At the end as the credit rolled, Bill walked from behind the camera where he was watching onto the set to hug Giuliana Rancic as he whispered, "I love you, baby".

'All the kids in her class laughed'
Bill also wrote an open love letter to Giuliana Rancic, entitled Giuliana: Why I'm So Proud.

"People don't give Giuliana enough credit, she's got a master's degree in journalism. She's brilliant and just gets it."

"When people come up to me and say, 'Tell your wife, 'Thank you.' I went in and got a mammogram because of her.' That's her legacy. That's why I'm the luckiest man in the world. She helped make a difference in people's lives. Handling breast cancer with such class, such bravery. She turned a negative into a positive and used her microphone wisely."

"The way you are on that red carpet, asking questions that everyone wants to ask. Handling the pressure..." he says. "The talent, the professionalism, and you're doing it live. I'm biased, but to be honest, there's nobody better than you.”

"Even in recent months, through some of the harder times, you showed nothing but grace under pressure," wrote Bill.

"You've dealt with worse and you've taken the high road, when others wouldn't have, something you always do...That's something that makes me love and respect you even more."

"I'll close by saying my wife is the definition of the American Dream. A dream that's become even more important in recent years."

"She came to this country at a young age and could barely speak English. All the kids in her class laughed when she stood up at 8 years old and said she wanted to be an award-winning anchor someday. No one is laughing now."

BREAKING. Giuliana Rancic quits as E! News anchor on E! Entertainment after a decade; will continue to do red carpet awards show coverage.

Giuliana Rancic (40) is done as anchor of E! News on E! Entertainment (DStv 124) after a decade but will stay on with the channel as a panelist when Fashion Police starts again, and will continue to do Live From the Red Carpet coverage for E! Entertainment.

Giuliana Rancic who is quitting E! News will be gone from the entertainment news show in less than a month by Monday 10 August.

The past year has been filled with drama for Giuliana Rancic as controversy keeps swirling around her thin frame and weight issues, and her highly controversial racist remarks about Zendaya's dreadlocked hair on the refashioned Fashion Police after the death of Joan Rivers which saw the show derail and panelists like Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin quit in a conflict-filled meltdown.

Then there's rival Maria Menounos who joined E! Entertainment for specials as well as reporting for E! News and who made no secret behind the scenes that she wants to push Giuliana Rancic out and take over her anchor spot in heated competition.

No word yet from E! Entertainment on who will be replacing Giuliana Rancic next to Terrence Jenkins as daily E! News co-anchor.

Chances are good that E! Entertainment will soon announce that it's Maria Menounos who has been plotting a take-over and who has even done red carpet duty at awards shows in the place of Giuliana Rancic, who is credited with the turn-around of E! News which came to the brink of cancellation a decade ago before she took over as managing editor.

"For more than a decade, I was fortunate enough to play a role in the success of E! News and will miss my family at the show," says Giuliana Rancic in a short statement.

"At the same time, I am excited to not only continue as host of two major franchises on E! but also executive produce the aspirational new show Rich in Faith for Oxygen as well as take my wine and clothing lines to the next level."

"This is such a thrilling time for me and I thank the gang at E! for understanding my desire to embark on this next chapter in my life," says Giuliana Rancic.

Giuliana Rancic previously said she and her husband Bill Rancic wants to move to Chicago permanently sometime this year where they have a house, since their son Duke has to start going to school and the couple has been commuting between Los Angeles and Chicago the past three years.

"During her time here, Giuliana Rancic played an instrumental role in building E! News into a global entertainment news powerhouse and, while we will miss seeing her on set every day, we are delighted to continue to work with her on Fashion Police and Live From the Red Carpet," says Adam Stotsky, E! Entertainment general manager in a statement.
