Izak Davel has joined the soap Villa Rosa on kykNET (DStv 111) and will soon appear as the new character Delarey van Jaarsveld, his publicist confirms.

Izak Davel, who was on an island and is known for uhm, THIS, will play a character who used to live on an island. Delarey van Jaarsveld returns from his island home and shows up at the Villa Rosa guest house after the death of his mother. He inherits a portion of the family farm and then there's drama.

After a few appearances in the past Izak Davel made some further appearances on SABC2's weekly magazine show Pasella earlier this year, which made me wonder whether he was going to be joining that show as a presenter. Izak Davel was seen in the Getroud met Rugby movie earlier this year and is known for his first soap role of Scab in M-Net's now defunct soap Egoli.

Tonight's episode of the weekly magazine show (back after an absence since there wasn't an episode last week) Pasella on SABC2 at 19:30 will have Izak Davel as guest presenter tonight.

The Survivor SA contestant who became famous for his red speedo will be the guest presenter tonight and was roped in when the regular Pasella presenters, Dieter Voigt, Vicky Davis, Paul Rothman, Minki van der Westhuizen and Irshaad Ally recently took their new publicity photos at a luxury mansion in Johannesburg. Of course there were some goofing around as you can see from these photos.

Izak Davel, the Survivor SA Santa Carolina celebitant who strutted around on the show in his red speedo, tells me exclusively that he had no idea that some of his fellow celebitants we're planning to drop trou and reveal skimpy red underwear during the show's live finale this past Wednesday night on M-Net.

During the live finale, fellow celebitants Garth Collins, Louw Venter and Gys de Villiers all pulled down their pants to reveal red undies. Meanwhile Survivor SA Santa Carolina host Nico Panagio didn't drop his pants, but pulled the top of his underwear out to show that - yes, he too - is wearing a little red something-something to cover his nether regions.

''I honestly had no idea. I didn't know that they've planned this whole undies thing,'' Izak Davel told me when I met up with him after the live finale. ''I got such a fright when the guys started to drop trou. I thought: Ay-yay-yay-yay-yay. . .  But it was sharp. I appreciate the joke.''

After a barrage of questions from readers, I asked M-Net and the answer is finally ''no'': No speedo or Izak Davel in a speedo on TV in tonight's live Survivor SA Santa Carolina finale at 19:30 on M-Net.

A lot of readers were apparently clamouring to see Izak Davel don his red swimsuit one last time which is also the most favourite item on auction from the show.

''There will be no speedo or Izak Davel in a speedo tonight on air,'' an M-Net spokesperson told me - and joked: ''We refuse to air it.'' M-Net tells me the red speedo is locked away and won't form a part of tonight's 90 minute live show. It doesn't mean however that viewers won't get to see clips or outtakes from previous episodes of Izak Davel donning the much spoken about red mankini.

''He's not wearing a speedo for tonight's Survivor SA Santa Carolina live show,'' the M-Net spokesperson said with laughter in his voice.

He won't be appearing like this - or shall I say in this - at the Survivor SA Santa Carolina live finale on M-Net next Wednesday.

At the official website of the show's online auction Survivor SA Santa Carolina celebitant Izak Davel's tiny red mankini is attracting a top bid of R2 500, but he won't be sporting the red attire or show skin at next Wednesday's live finale at 19:30 coming from M-Net's studio 6 in Randburg.

I asked whether viewers will see Izak Davel with, or in the red hot item during the upcoming 90 minute live finale where all the celebitants (maybe not JubJub) will once again be together. I was told no. Although they want high ratings for the finale, there's just some levels that the show's producers simply won't stoop to. Like trotting the guy out in the highly buzzed-about piece of man cloth. This is high brow TV viewing after all. Not some tawdry guilty pleasure reality show.

What a big difference one little red speedo makes. A day after Survivor SA Santa Carolina celebitant Izak Davel's red island lioncloth thingie went on auction, his infamous red speedo is already a massive moneymaker! The island oke's skimpy speedo is blowing all the other auction items out of the water, having attracted a record setting bid of R2 000 (by Friday night) after just one day.

Izak Davel's red speedo at the show's online auction site got a top bid of R2 000, making his red Bonewear swimsuit the most lusted after single piece of Survivor SA Santa Carolina memorabilia up for grabs. None of the other auction items even come close.

While nobody is interesting in teary quitter Christina Storm's water bottle, someone is willing to pony up R200 for Gys de Villiers' water bottle. Cindy Nell's necklace has attracted a top bid of R200, Okkert Brits' board shorts got R250, and Sandi Schultz' dress is getting R450 so far. But while nobody is interested in Garth Collins' (stinky) tighty whities,  Izak Davel's red speedo that got plenty of TV screen time, is clearly what fans want to get their hands on.

In a hectic mano-a-mano reward challenge in yesterday's 3rd episode of Survivor SA Santa Carolina on M-Net at 19:30 celebtestants Okkert Brits and Izak Davel first pummeled each other on a long beam, Okkert won - and then they both suddenly hugged it out. Huh??

So, are they friends after the fight? Are they enemies because they're on different tribes? What on earth is going on here? Celebrities usual fear over-exposure. Not Izak Davel. If there is one contestant on Survivor SA Santa Carolina (Wednesdays at 19:30 on M-Net) who's choice of skimpy swimwear is raising eyebrows, it's Izak Davel itsy bitsy teeny-weeny all red barely there speedo. He calls it a ''smart choice''.

I asked him why he chose to take that to the island to cover-up his man bits, whether he had any, uhm (cough-cough) ''wardrobe malfunctions'', whether he usually take to the water wearing that, where he got it, and of course . . .what his tribemates thought of his revealing show-and-tell.

On 27 December last year I teased RIGHT HERE with another one of the Survivor SA Santa Carolina contestants, and now I'm putting the head back on the body of the hot hunk's body I teased you with over the holidays.

I've know of course for the LONGEST TIME that Izak Davel will be in Survivor SA Santa Carolina and is on the island in M-Net's third Survivor SA season. Izak Davel is most well known to TV viewers of course as Scab in Egoli.
