Why Kia Johnson, who viewers saw on Expresso on SABC3 doing traffic reports, is now heard on kykNET's morning show Dagbreek.

I have more information now and back perspective and an explanation for why morning viewers are now hearing and seeing Kia Johnson doing traffic reports on the new morning show Dagbreek on kykNET (DStv 144). Kia Johnson, of course is well known for having done traffic reports on Expresso on SABC3, that channel's morning show.

What I asked SABC3 yesterday was this: Can SABC3/Expresso possibly please comment on Kia Johnson from Expresso suddenly doing traffic reports for Dagbreek? Why is Expresso's traffic morning person suddenly doing traffic in mornings on Dagbreek on kykNET? Is she still involved with Expresso?

As of the publication of this story, I have had no answers from anybody.

Now I can explain this to viewers who are wondering how it's all working: Not only is Kia Johnson no longer involved with Expresso, she also did the traffic for e.tv last week, and does traffic report for a lot of different media outlets. I was just told that nobody poached Kia Johnson. Kia Johnson is a freelance broadcaster with a freelance contract with trafficnet.co.za and they supply places, like Dagbreek and others, with traffic information.

Trafficnet.co.za supplies both the SABC and independent TV and radio stations in South Africa with realtime traffic information in South African cities and they use Kia Johnson. So, because Kia Johnson can speak Afrikaans, she is used by Trafficnet.co.za for Dagbreek on kykNET.

SHOCKER! Kia Johnson does the morning traffic report - not for Expresso but suddenly for the new breakfast show Dagbreek on kykNET.

How blatantly clear is it that the new weekday Afrikaans morning show Dagbreek which started today on kykNET (DStv 144) is not only gunning for, but immediately trying to be (like) SABC3's weekday morning show Expresso? How about Kia Johnson doing the traffic reports.

No, not for Expresso where Kia Johnson has been doing traffic reports in the mornings and recently became a mother. But suddenly for Dagbreek. Not only is Kia Johnson doing traffic for a new TV show, Kia Johnson is doing traffic reports for the exact same type of show, in the same genre, in the mornings, which she's done for Expresso.

In TV land, this isn't a declaration of war; this is more like a nuclear bomb. In media, different platforms will often steal competitor's fire - a newspaper might steal a recognizable name columnist, a radio station steals a voice.

Interesting that Dagbreek couldn't find their own traffic report person but dilutes their brand, as well as the Expresso brand by using the same name.

FIRST LOOK. Expresso's presenter sextet looks bright and breezy; ready for tele fun in the sun and summer 2013 on SABC3.

Here they are: Leigh-Anne Williams, Graeme Richards, Liezel van der Westhuizen, new dad Ewan Strydom, Katlego Maboe and Kia Johnson in their new publicity photo as the presenter sextet of the weekday morning show Expresso on SABC3.

With half of them roaming all over the place and overseas, the other half making babies, the other half cleaning creches, rappelling down buildings, doing MC'ing gigs across the country and flying around like crazy, it's somewhat of a logistical nightmare getting this breezy Cape Town telegenics all together for something like a photoshoot.

But now the Expresso did just that and now look as if they've stepped right out of Hamptons; ready for Summer 2013.

The new Expresso publicity pics and photo shoot are for summer - and if that sounds matter-of-factly, Expresso is the only morning show in South Africa which regularly actually takes publicity photos and updates them as the different seasons roll by.

BREAKING. Kia Johnson does a Demi as SABC3's Expresso presenter confirms her pregnancy and shows her baby boep: 'Surprise!'

Kia Johnson, one of the coffee clutch of Expresso presenters on SABC3's weekday breakfast show, gave viewers literally a ''big'' surprise this morning when she did a Demi and showed off her growing baby belly on national television.

Striking a pose similar to Demi Moore's iconic Vanity Fair pregnant cover of 1991, Kia Johnson, Expresso's traffic presenter, said ''I'm pregnant. Expecting my first one'' as she stood up and rubbed her hands over her round tummy.

She also had a pregnancy tip for viewers on national television before later doing pregnancy yoga. ''The minute you find out you're pregnant, you should not be cleaning out your cat's litter box,'' Kia Johnson shared.

''There's something called toxoplasmosis. It's actually an infection that you find - a parasite - that you find in the feces of a cat. So it's something that can happen and which can be very harmful to your baby.''

Later on, doing baby yoga, Kia Johnson again help her tummy and went: ''Guess who's pregnant? Surprise!''

''If by now you haven't guessed it - yes, I am pregnant for the first time. I'm looking very forward to being a mother.''
