I THROW MY HANDS UP IN THE AIR SOMETIMES. Is another instant viral hit coming? The Idols Top 6 to sing 'Dynamite' on Sunday.

''I'm gonna put my hands in the air! My hands in the air!''

Hello, pop culture creatures. Idols announced that the remaining Top 6 contestants of the 7th season of the popular reality show on M-Net will be doing another group song together for Sunday evening's episode at 17:30 on M-Net (DStv 101) and Mzansi Magic (DStv 107). Sunday's show is recorded on Friday evening.

The song they're singing together? A version of Taoi Cruz's ''Dynamite''. Mmm. No word from M-Net, Idols or my sources yet, but it immediately made me wonder: Is Idols and the remaining contestants working on another little surprise that it hopes to become an insta-viral hit?

If you don't know who Mike Thompkins is, you have to take a look at the brilliant YouTube video below. He did an a cappella version of Taoi Cruz' club hit exactly a year ago which sounded even better than the original. Mike Thompkins sing the song that viewers will see and hear Sunday evening - and he does all the sound instruments himself. That video became an instant viral hit. Then America's Today show copied him and he taught them to sing it and helped them to do a ''Dynamite'' a cappella video version which then went viral too.

Of course when Idols announced on Thursday the Top 6 will be singing ''Dynamite'' together, I instantly thought I hope they're doing something like what Today did - and even with a bit of Autotune thrown in on purpose in a sing in which Autotune actually serves a wonderful and appropriate purpose!

BREAKING. The Walking Dead's second season premiere episode lengthened to 90 minutes in America; will Fox FX in South Africa follow?

The first episode of the second season of the zombie drama The Walking Dead that starts soon in America and on Fox FX (TopTV 110) on Tuesday 18 October at 21:00 has just been supersized to 90 minutes.

Now the question (and I've asked, and will tell when I get an answer): will Fox FX adapt and change its October schedule to also show the first episode of the second season of The Walking Dead as a 90 minute special episode in South Africa?

Another just-announced change which will also impact the showing of the second season in South Africa: There will only be 6 episodes of The Walking Dead, before the show takes an unscheduled break in America. It's not been said, but production drama behind-the-scenes of The Walking Dead is definitely to blame.

With South Africa getting the second season of The Walking Dead within days of episodes being shown in America, it's going to mean that South Africans will also just get an initial 6 episodes before Christmas, and then the remainder of the second season only again from early in 2012 when the next batch is broadcast in America.

Programming note: Mud Men on History following the 'mudlarks' along the Thames looking for hidden history from Friday 2 September.

History (DStv 254) just couriered me a special press preview copy of the first episode of the interesting new series Mud Men that premieres tomorrow (Friday, 2 September) on the channel at 20:30.

Mud Men follows so-called ''mudlarks'', or amateur archaeologists who scour the banks of the river Thames in London - searching not for buried treasure, but for hidden history. On the Thames foreshore lies 2 000 years of history just waiting to be discovered.

''To wade through time you've got to be prepared to get your hands dirty,'' says Johnny Vaughan who goes on an archaeological adventure with mudlark Steve Brooker. ''Steve's agreed to share with me his decades of knowledge and experience. We'll race against time and tide to discover London's muddy history.''

Britain's most iconic river is one of the world's richest archaeological sites and mudlarks like Steve Brooker scour the banks looking for all kinds of interesting artefacts from trade, crime, industry, war, food, drink, death and even debauchery and what it reveals about Britain's past. Excited Stolli (hilarious!) is the mud hound joining the guys looking for tresure.

''Even the most mundane of items can tell a story,'' says Johnny Vaughan. Mud Men is humurous and funny and insightful.

Programming note: Star! gets the rights to the Miss USA 2011 pageant that will be broadcast on Saturday 8 October at 12:00.

You're reading it here first.

I can spill that Star! (TopTV 179) has secured the broadcasting rights to Miss USA 2011 pageant which took place in June and which the channel will broadcast on Saturday 8 October at 12:00 (South African time).

Star! got Miss USA 2011 pageant shortly after I broke the news last week that Star! snagged Miss Universe 2011 for September. Miss Universe 2011 that is shown in September will get a repeat broadcast in October on the day after the Miss USA 2011 broadcast - it will be repeated on Sunday 9 October at 12:00.

Miss USA 2011 - the 60th anniversary of this pageant - took place in June in Las Vegas with Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic from E! Entertainment as the hosts.

BREAKING. SABC warns that its 'deadlocked' over R5 million broadcasting rights for Bafana game with France's Sports Five.

The SABC just warned - through public posturing - that SABC viewers better prepare themselves to not see the Bafana Bafana soccer match between South Africa and Niger, since negotiations for the broadcasting rights between the SABC and Sports Five who wants R5 million - have reached a deadlock.

The SABC that never wants to say how much it's paid per game in broadcasting rights to Sports Five, is suddenly quite prepared to say that Sports Five wants R5 million for the rights of the Bafana Bafana versus Niger game.

''The R5 million is downright unreasonable and unsustainable'' says the SABC in a late-released press statement, which indicates that the South African public broadcaster - now deadlocked in negotiations - is going to try to build public pressure to get Sports Five to lower the rights fee.

The SABC says the broadcaster is ''deadlocked'' with Sports Five for the broadcasting rights, knowing that a public outcry with follow if the SABC fails to secure the rights to broadcast a soccer game in which South Africa's national soccer team plays. ''The deadlock was due to the prohibitively expensive broadcast rights fee demanded by the rights holder, Sports Five, who are based in France,'' says the SABC, revealing that ''Sports Five is demanding R5 million for the match''.

''The SABC maintains that the rights fees is unreasonably high, unsustainable and way above the universal market rate,'' says the broadcaster. ''The corporation made what it believes to be a reasonable offer, and one that was even above the market rate, but the rights holder was unwilling to accept the offer made by the SABC''.

The SABC says that ''the going rate for matches involving top ten African matches is around R1,4 million maximum'' and that ''the SABC was even willing to make a better offer on the going rate, despite the fact that Niger was not a top ten team in Africa''.

Now a waiting game will follow, as public pressure will definitely come from fans, the public, the sports and soccer fraternity and - as the SABC may well be hoping - the South African government and some form of intervention.

TOLDJA! Camelot to start on Fox Entertainment on Monday 3 October at 20:00 as a high-quality reimagining of the Arthurian legend.

You're reading it here first.

In July I broke the news RIGHT HERE that Fox Entertainment has snagged the rights to the epic drama Camelot, and now I can exclusively dish that Camelot is set to start on Fox Entertainment (TopTV 180)on Monday 3 October at 20:00 (South African time).

In July when I broke the news sources gave me a starting date of 18 October for Camelot's 10 episodes, but the starting date of the show with Joseph Fiennes, Jamie Campbell Bower and Eva Green filmed on location in Ireland has now been moved up to 3 October. Sadly Camelot was cancelled after the first season due to several logistical issues, but it doesn't mean the show following the life of a young King Arthur isn't great.

Camelot is yet another high-quality TV drama that's now been snagged by Fox, with the broadcaster definitely proving its mettle when it comes to bringing South African viewers and TopTV subscribers premium first-run shows and content - and incredibly quickly. Camelot follows high-buzz, critically acclaimed shows like The Walking Dead (of which the second season is starting on Fox FX on Tuesday 18 October at 20:15), Falling Skies and The Listener.

M-Net on-screen logo won't change in October when the pay broadcaster turns 25; a special 25th birthday logo will be used elsewhere.

You're reading it here first.

I can reveal tht M-Net's on-screen logo won't be changing from - and during - the month of October when the pay broadcaster turns 25 years old - although M-Net has a special 25th birthday logo which the pay TV station will be using elsewhere during the month.

Whereas the SABC recently changed its on-screen logo on its TV channels for one day to mark its 75th anniversary, M-Net will not be changing its channel logo(s) on screen. ''The logo subscribers see on television won't change. It will remain just the ribbon. M-Net has more than one channel so it all stays as is,'' says Lani Lombard, M-Net's communications manager.

''There is a special M-Net 25th birthday logo however. That special M-Net logo will be used and seen elsewhere for M-Net's anniversary but it won't be seen as the channel marker,'' she says.

FIRST LOOK. Will e.tv's new Blame it on Fame fail or fly? The 'twinz' Hlelo and Ntando Masina getting ready for their reality show.

Will they spread their wings and fly - giving e.tv what the channel desperately needs which is a big buzz-worthy show - or will they crash and burn like a similar, low-class, production-trash, reality show earlier this year I won't mention (okay, I will, Nonhle Takes Hollywood)?

The glam-twins (and heaven help us, ''twinz''...) Hlelo and Ntando Masina are ready for their own reality show debut in their new (oddly-enough negative-sounding) reality show Blame it on Fame starting on Monday 4 September at 20:30 on e.tv. Now the new key art from Blame it on Fame is available - and it looks way more playful, toned-down and tongue-in-cheek than boom!-sit-down's purple, over-the-top, overly-dramatic, high art key art that was much too much.

Insiders are now wondering whether Blame it on Fame will fail or fly. Can Hlelo and Ntando become reality stars, or will the 13 episode show produced by Rapid Blue become another sushi and champagne television disaster?

''It looks better than Nonhle's show,'' one insider who's seen the show already tells TV with Thinus. ''The production values are higher. I know that doesn't say much but the look is better,'' I'm told. Another source says ''there's more people. It has a lot of real people besides them [the twins] which makes it feel real.''

''e.tv is excited to launch another locall produced show,'' says Monde Twala, group head of e.tv channels division, using the words ''high-quality'' to describe Blame it on Fame. ''The channel is committed to delivering content that is fresh, innovative and relevant.''

''Rapid Blue is thrilled to be able to create this show for e.tv, and Hlelo and Ntando stood out as the absolutely perfect choice,'' says Kee-Leen Irvine, Rapid Blue executive producer, talking about ''tough choices'' facing the girls in the ''celebrity world''. ''I hope the viewers will be as delighted with the look-in to their lives as we've been''.
