CRAZY SHOCKER! Failing to tell her to retire, SABC asks Sue Dennison to write a back dated resignation letter and to pay her July salary back!
You're reading it here first.
After the SABC first conveniently ''forgot'' to tell Sue Dennison (63) that she needs to retire and asked her to leave the building exactly a week ago today, I can now exclusively reveal that the SABC allegedly just asked her to - get this: write up a resignation letter and fake back date it, and that she also must first pay back her July salary in order to get her pension money out of the SABC! Naturally she refused.

After I broke the news of this incredible story of utterly unbelievable incompetence by the South African public broadcaster, its now becoming even more incredulous and preposterous! First the SABC added insult to injury by sending a rude and completely inappropriate email to Sue Dennison last Wednesday (who's been a loyal worker of 20 years at the SABC's sales and marketing division) informing her that the SABC neglected to process her retirement and that she must leave and won't be paid for the days she worked in August. Now the SABC is continuing with even crazier behaviour and making things worse.
A source close to Sue Dennison tells me that the longtime worker attended a meeting at the SABC where she got a verbal apology from the SABC with promises of a written one (which she didn't get yet). Then Sue Dennison was apparently told that she ''must back date her resignation and pay back her July salary in order to get her pension out. She obviously refused because it's illegal,'' my source tells me. ''The SABC has also not denied claims from Sue Dennison that people over the age of 63 can carry on working of they choose to do so - that there is no stipulation against this in the SABC contract of employment.''
I have asked the SABC for an official response. ''The SABC will not entertain this matter any further. This is an internal matter,'' Kaizer Kganyago, SABC spokesperson tells me. ''Whatever allegations are made doesn't change the fact that the worker needs to retire. These allegations seem like ploys to avoid going on retirement. It doesn't matter what allegations are thrown at us, the SABC is not going to respond further on this issue that is now handled by the SABC's human resources department.''

BREAKING. SABC calls Sue Dennison you're-retired-leave-immediately incident ''unfortunate''; will investigate the matter and pay her.
You're reading it here first.
The SABC has finally responded to the scandalous and horrific incident in which Sue Dennison (63) who worked at the SABC for 20 years was rudely told on Wednesday, August 4 that she'd worked past her retirement age, needs to leave the building immediately and that she won't be paid for the work she did on Monday and Tuesday.
The SABC has told me exclusively - after I told you about what happened RIGHT HERE and spoke to Sue Dennison earlier today RIGHT HERE (when she said ''My heart is broken. It's in pieces.'') - that the incident is ''unfortunate'' and that Sue Dennison will now be paid for the days that she worked in accordance with South Africa's labour law.
''Sue Dennison knows her birth date and has been employed by the SABC for a long time,'' says Kaizer Kganyago, SABC spokesperson in response to my enquiries about why she wasn't told that she needs to retire. He says the matter will be investigated regarding why '' the retirement was communicated in the unfortunate manner that it was done. There will be consequences if no satisfactory answers are received.''
Kaizer Kganyago also told me that the matter of a farewell for Sue Dennison who had to leave immediately - and did so in tears as she left the SABC building after 20 years with distraught longtime colleagues looking on - ''will be discussed with Sue''. ''The SABC values the service of its employees,'' he says. ''Sue will be paid for the extra days that she worked in August.''

BREAKING SHOCKER! SABC forgets to tell worker of 20 years to retire, refuses to pay Sue Dennison for two days in August, as she leaves crying.
BREAKING. SABC's Ben Ngubane, Solly Mokoetle ''have been running this broadcaster like an unlicenced township shebeen,'' says CWU.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU), one of the three biggest trade unions within the SABC, has choice words for the highly unpopular and arrogant SABC board chairperson dr. Ben Ngubane and group CEO Solly Mokoetle saying ''These two have been running this public broadcaster like an unlicensed township shebeen,'' in a just released statement.
''. . . objective South Africans do not require specialised spectacles to see that the problem at the SABC is its CEO [Solly Mokoetle] and chairperson [Ben Ngubane] – and now of late, the dead of news [Phil Molefe] who was recently appointed under dubious circumstances,'' says the CWU.
The CWU is also asking for the SABC board to ''reverse the forceful retirement of Sue Dennison with immediate effect''.

SHOCKING SABC ABUSE! ''My heart is broken and in pieces,'' says Sue Dennison after SABC throws her out after failing to tell her to retire.
You're reading it here first.
In an utterly shocking and horrific case of what can only be described as SABC worker abuse, the SABC not only conveniently forgot to tell Sue Dennison (63) that she is at retirement age but told her on Wednesday, August 4 that she needed to leave the building immediately - and still had the audacity to tell ''Tannie Sue'' as she's been fondly known for many years in SABC Auckland Park corridors, that she won't be paid for Monday and Tuesday for the two days already worked.
''My heart is broken and in pieces,'' Sue Dennison (63) told me today after I told RIGHT HERE about the unbelievable, and shocking events that unfolded at the broadcaster who told her to get out of the building immediately on Wednesday.
''I feel demoralized, I feel incredibly hurt. I can't tell you how I feel. I'm saddened. I gave my best years to the SABC - two decades of my life,'' Sue Dennison tells me. ''I am the SABC. Over the past twenty years I worked so very hard. I gave everything to the SABC. I worked overtime and never claimed any. I worked nights. I worked weekends. Mornings at six o' clock I was at work - just like Wednesday when I opened the e-mail and my world collapsed. I still can't comprehend it.''
Sue Dennison tells me she asked the SABC for 30 minutes on Wednesday as she fought back tears to just finish up her work. She wanted to end with her work done and up to date as she always did. According to her she was then rudely told to ''get out of the building immediately, you are here illegally, you are not allowed to work, take your things and leave.'' ''I feel terrible,'' says Sue Dennison. ''My phone doesn't stop ringing. All the people - SABC colleagues over years are telling me they're so shocked. I'm so shocked. I'm so incredibly sad. There was no time to even say goodbye. I love the SABC and its so sad to see how people who gave years and years of their life are being treated.''
''I'm not going to leave it here,'' Sue Dennison tells me. ''Everything I've helped the SABC to build was broken down on Wednesday. Nobody said anything. They didn't say 'You need to go on pension, here's the forms you need to fill in, how do you want your money?' or anything like that. I had no time on Wednesday to even say goodbye to people I've known and loved and worked with for years. It was 'Take your stuff and leave.' My heart is broken. Broken. . .''
I have asked the SABC for comment 12 hours ago when I became aware of this matter. As of yet, I haven't gotten any response on my media enquiries.

BREAKING SHOCKER! SABC forgets to tell worker of 20 years to retire, refuses to pay Sue Dennison for two days in August, as she leaves crying.
You're reading it here first.
Poor Sue Dennison - fondly and well-known within SABC corridors as ''Tannie Sue'' and who worked at the SABC for 20 years - left the SABC's building in Auckland Park in tears and utterly unconsolable! In an unbelievable and horrible case of deplorable conduct, the bumbling and incompetent SABC forgot to tell Sue Dennison that she has to retire at the end of July. And get this: to add massive insult to injury the SABC sent poor Sue Dennison an email to tell her that the public broadcaster will absolutely not be paying her for the two days in August that she worked.
Sue Dennison who's been working at the SABC for two decades in the sales and marketing division where the SABC earns the broadcaster's revenue, was not aware that she had to retire. Several SABC workers continue working after retirement age and she received no notification. This Wednesday she got an utterly pathetic email from the SABC's human resources department saying, ''Hi Sue. This serves to advise that your last day in our service was 31 July 2010 as you reached normal retirement age during July. We erroneously did not inform you and did not do the processing. Please be aware that the SABC will not be in a position to pay you for the 2 days you worked in August 2010.''
Sue Dennison had to leave the building without any apology, without any goodbye, without any dignity and that after two decades of labour at the SABC. No wonder that Tannie Sue was sobbing uncontrolably with distraught SABC staff shaking their heads in shock at their own corporation who's incompetent human resources department is flagrantly breaking South Africa's labour law as it broke Tannie Sue's heart!
I'm awaiting word from SABC on this arrogant and unbelievable yet totally true travesty and to hear if the SABC plans to do anything about giving Sue Dennison a proper goodbye and who is responsible for this major slap in the face of a dedicated and longtime employee in the South African broadcasting biz.
