SHOCKING SABC ABUSE! ''My heart is broken and in pieces,'' says Sue Dennison after SABC throws her out after failing to tell her to retire.
You're reading it here first.
In an utterly shocking and horrific case of what can only be described as SABC worker abuse, the SABC not only conveniently forgot to tell Sue Dennison (63) that she is at retirement age but told her on Wednesday, August 4 that she needed to leave the building immediately - and still had the audacity to tell ''Tannie Sue'' as she's been fondly known for many years in SABC Auckland Park corridors, that she won't be paid for Monday and Tuesday for the two days already worked.
''My heart is broken and in pieces,'' Sue Dennison (63) told me today after I told RIGHT HERE about the unbelievable, and shocking events that unfolded at the broadcaster who told her to get out of the building immediately on Wednesday.
''I feel demoralized, I feel incredibly hurt. I can't tell you how I feel. I'm saddened. I gave my best years to the SABC - two decades of my life,'' Sue Dennison tells me. ''I am the SABC. Over the past twenty years I worked so very hard. I gave everything to the SABC. I worked overtime and never claimed any. I worked nights. I worked weekends. Mornings at six o' clock I was at work - just like Wednesday when I opened the e-mail and my world collapsed. I still can't comprehend it.''
Sue Dennison tells me she asked the SABC for 30 minutes on Wednesday as she fought back tears to just finish up her work. She wanted to end with her work done and up to date as she always did. According to her she was then rudely told to ''get out of the building immediately, you are here illegally, you are not allowed to work, take your things and leave.'' ''I feel terrible,'' says Sue Dennison. ''My phone doesn't stop ringing. All the people - SABC colleagues over years are telling me they're so shocked. I'm so shocked. I'm so incredibly sad. There was no time to even say goodbye. I love the SABC and its so sad to see how people who gave years and years of their life are being treated.''
''I'm not going to leave it here,'' Sue Dennison tells me. ''Everything I've helped the SABC to build was broken down on Wednesday. Nobody said anything. They didn't say 'You need to go on pension, here's the forms you need to fill in, how do you want your money?' or anything like that. I had no time on Wednesday to even say goodbye to people I've known and loved and worked with for years. It was 'Take your stuff and leave.' My heart is broken. Broken. . .''
I have asked the SABC for comment 12 hours ago when I became aware of this matter. As of yet, I haven't gotten any response on my media enquiries.
