PICTORIAL: A photo tour of the SABC's impressive set at the SABC Broadcast Centre in Sandton.

You're only seeing it here.

I have taken spectacular photos of the beautiful and massive set of the SABC Broadcast Centre, that only I can show you. The SABC Broadcast Centre at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg is the nerve centre of the South African public broadcaster's 2010 FIFA World Cup coverage.

Various edit suites, sound mixing fascilities and broadcast servers are used to assist in the broadcast from the impressive set at the SABC Broadcast Centre in Sandton where the workflow is kept in high definition (HD) to preserve the highest possible quality, and is only converted down for transmission when the signal is carried back to the SABC in Auckland Park.

INTERVIEW. The SABC Broadcast Centre: ''It gives a sense of the muscle of the SABC,'' says the broadcaster's special projects manager.

You're reading it here first.

On a private tour of the SABC's new SABC Broadcast Centre inside the Sandton Convention Centre last week - the SABC's centralized nerve centre for its coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, I got to talk to Trudy Mackay, manager: special projects at the SABC who was responsible for the truly breathtaking set that cost R3 million to build.

I asked her about what unexpected complication arose during the set construction, when the set will be dismantled again, what the really expensive equipment is and even how these high gloss floor and surface areas will stay that way. Trudy Mackay talks about the set, the infrastructure behind it, she reveals some interesting behind-the-scenes security issues and how it was resolved, and tells me what about the on-set experience is emotional for her.

FIRST LOOK! The SABC Broadcast Centre completes construction of its beautiful, impressive and shimmering new set.

You're seeing it here first.

I got an exclusive ''VIP ALL ACCESS'' pass today and I'm the only journalist covering television in South Africa who can give this very first reveal of the SABC's brand new, massive and incredible set that South Africa's public broadcaster has just finished constructing at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

I can tell you exclusively that president Jacob Zuma, Akon, as well as the SABC board and the SABC board chairman dr Ben Ngubane visited the SABC's shimmering and jaw-dropping TV set today. They were hopefully as impressed as I was with this 32 TV screen, beautifully illuminated, high-gloss, multi-platform TV set that will be the SABC's showcase studio during the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament that kicks off on Friday.

Workers, technical staff and the SABC's production crew are putting the finishing touches on the gleaming, multi-arch set with brilliant lighting and a huge centre stage back screen set in a circular design, flanked by a 200 to 240 studio audience seating section and a VIP viewing room. The SABC Broadcasting Centre's set will be launched officially tomorrow. I got full access behind the scenes today at the set, spoke to the TV execs in charge of this massive project and will bring you that story tomorrow - as well as more and comprehensive BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS I took during my set visit today.
