MultiChoice has appointed Shirley Adonisi as the new M-Net director for local entertainment channels from December 2021, replacing Nomsa Philiso in the role who was promoted to MultiChoice's new head of programming.

In her new role Shirley Adonisi reports into Gideon Khobane, MultiChoice's group executive for general entertainment.

Having taken over from Nomsa Philiso, Shirley Adonisi is now responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operational management and performance of M-Net's local entertainment TV channels like 1Magic, Mzansi Magic, Mzansi Wethu, Mzansi Bioskop, Mzansi Magic Music and Channel O carried on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV service.

"I would like to congratulate Shirley on her recent appointment and look forward to the great contribution and extensive experience she will add to the local entertainment channel team," says Gideon Khobane.

Shirley Adonisi joined MultiChoice 4 years ago in November 2017 as the senior manager of content planning and scheduling for local channels.

Since then, she has been part of the management team responsible for implementing the local channels' strategies, managing channels' budget, commissioning hundreds of hours of local content and ensuring that the schedules were competitive and entertaining for DStv subscribers, MultiChoice says.

Shirley Adonisi rose from being a production manager in 2002 to being a producer at Endemol Shine Africa and later a commissioning editor at the SABC.

A recent graduate from Henley Business school with a post-graduate diploma in business management and a GIBS with a qualification in professional business coaching, Shirley is now pursuing her Masters degree.
