MultiChoice's video streaming service will debut its second Kenyan Showmax Original drama series, Single-ish, on 20 January following the legal procedural Crime and Justice that was renewed for a second season.

Single-ish, based on the South African series, Unmarried, is a 13-episode drama series that is Showmax's third Kenyan production after Crime and Justice and the Showmax Original film Baba Twins.

Single-ish follows the lives of three women living in Nairobi - Sintamei (Gathoni Mutua), Mariah (Minne Kariuki) and Rebecca (Faith Kibathi) - all dealing with the challenges of marriage, relationships, and their careers while exploring the bond of friendship that they share.

Sintamei is a lawyer, in the process of becoming a partner in a prestigious law firm. She has been married for a decade to the man of her dreams - or at least she thought so.

Mariah is a woman with a taste for the finer things in life, who uses her looks to get anything she wants, while Rebecca is a housewife and mother of two who has lived with her high school sweetheart for nine years despite not being officially married.

Brian Abajah, Michael Munyoki, Lucarelli Onyango, Mburu Kimani, Lenana Kariba, Dora Nyaboke and Jacky Kaboi are also partof the Single-ish cast.

Single-ish is produced by Insignia Productions' Philippe Bresson and Grace Kahaki, also responsible for shows like Time change and New beginnings, co-producing with Robby Bresson.

"I think for the first time we are able to depict real life in an unfiltered way," says Philippe Bresson.

"To me, this is real film-making, when you are able to tell the story as it should be, so even as the viewer watches it, they will be surprised, shocked and will fall in love with how we tell the story."

" I don't think there's been any other show that has pushed the boundary in terms of women's issues as we have."
