Fourth season of Big Brother Naija set to debut on 30 June for all DStv subscribers in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa including South Africa.

MultiChoice Africa and M-Net West Africa have announced that the 4th season of Big Brother Nigeria will start on Sunday 30 June with Big Brother Naija, produced from Lagos this year, that will be available to all DStv subscribers in sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa.

The reality show that's been done before with Nigerian contestants housed in Johannesburg, South Africa, will see its 4th season filmed in Lagos, Nigeria this year from new studio facilities - the first time since the show is being produced in Nigeria itself since 2006.

Big Brother Naija will be broadcast on DStv channel 198 on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV service and will be shown in Nigeria, as well as in other sub-Saharan African countries, including South Africa.

The 4th season of Big Brother Naija will run for 90 days - or three months.

"The Big Brother franchise remains one of the most exciting content options available to viewers across the world," says John Ugbe, MultiChoice Nigeria CEO.

"Big Brother Naija which is easily the most popular version in Africa is finally here and for the first time since 2006 the show will be hosted in Nigeria."

"Our viewers should expect the very best of entertainment, intrigue and drama, all delivered with excellent production standards straight from a house here in Nigeria."

A special Big Brother Naija pop-up channel and reunion show ran from 18 to 31 March on MultiChoice's DStv in West Africa featuring the stars from the third Big Brother Naija "Double Wahala" season.

The 4th season Big Brother Naija audition process took place at 8 venues across Nigeria earlier this year.

The organisers and MultiChoice Nigeria were criticised for inadequate logistics, a lack of proper crowd-management and capacity control and a lack of timeous communication which resulted in massive crowds, traffic jams and very long queues as people panicked about not being able to get an audition.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu will again be the host of the upcoming 4th season of Big Brother Naija, with the former housemate who presented the second season in 2017 and the third season that started in January 2018.
