MultiChoice adds functionality to its DStv app for Apple devices; enables SuperSport live streaming of certain events for Android devices.

Still hampered by substandard general broadband speed and coverage in South Africa, MultiChoice is slowly making further headway to catch up with American satellite pay-TV providers and their range of TV everywhere services.

MultiChoice is enhancing it's DStv Catch Up service, enabling live streaming of certain SuperSport events through the internet for DStv Premium subscribers through a new SuperSport app for Android devices, iPads and iPhones.

DStv subscribers still have to pay separately for the internet data consumed from watching sport and television, although use of the SuperSport app is free to DStv Premium subscribers.

MultiChoice is also adding extended functionality to its DStv app for Apple for DStv Premium subscribers who can download certain videos from DStv Catch Up to iPhone and iPad devices.

Reviews of the DStv app available on iTunes, since it launched have generally not been favourable with DStv subscribers complaining about various things.

It might change over time as functionality improve and broadband availability and speed in South Africa improves and the inhibiting megabyte cost to consumers come down.
