SuperSport 9 will contain EFC Fight Nights, as well as domestic soccer leagues from the African continent to South African viewers, as well as American-based sports such as college basketball, soccer and boxing.
The addition of SuperSport 9 comes after the announcement in mid-July of SuperSport 5 HD or SS5HD, and SuperSport 6 HD or SS 6HD.
There's also been the loss of ESPN and ESPN Classic TV channels on MultiChoice which the pay-TV platform said will see some of that American sport content migrate to other SuperSport channels.
"In the last few weeks we've secured the rights to a number of sporting events," says Brandon Foot, SuperSport's head of acquisitions.
"These additional SuperSport channels allow us to showcase this content and offer DStv customers even more sports variety and entertainment."
