BREAKING. HD PVR 2P decoder from MultiChoice now also enabled for DStv on Demand and Series Recording.

The new HD PVR 2P DStv decoder that MultiChoice released earlier this year with a smaller hard drive [Please see the editor's note below] will now be able to record shows on another part of the hard drive, making the DStv on Demand service and the ''Series Recording'' functionality available on this decoder.

MultiChoice just announced that the HD PVR 2P will be able to access DStv on Demand and do Series Recording from today. DStv on Demand is however still only for DStv Premium subscribers (who might have a HD PVR 2P decoder).

UPDATE Editor's note Friday 10 December 2010, 9:35 - I made a mistake. MultiChoice informs me that the HD PVR 2P does in fact NOT have a smaller hard drive. MultiChoice says the space allocated to own recordings on the HD PVR 2P remains the same, and that DStv on Demand's CatchUp service doesn't use that space. The space on the HD PVR 2P used for DStv's on Demand CatchUp service uses a space that was dormant on the decoder, which was set aside for that purpose when it was manufactured.
