BREAKING. SABC3 viewers will get to vote from Monday for a name for its new morning breakfast show set to debut in October.

You're reading it here first.

I can exclusively reveal that SABC3 viewers will get the chance from Monday to vote for a name for SABC3's new morning breakfast show that will debut in October and that will be hosted by Liezel van der Westhuizen, Ewan Strydom and Katlego Maboe from the pent house suite in the Equinox Building in Sea Point, Cape Town.

I have all the competition details exclusively that the channel will probably release on Monday when the search for a name for the lifestyle orientated new morning show starts. I'm told the producers and SABC3 are running the competition to get viewer interaction going and to see what suggestions there are from the South African public. The new morning show, currently with the working title Op & Wakker would have been Afrikaans, but has since changed to become 50/50 Afrikaans and English. The name competition will be ''similar to how M-Net's Carte Blanche got its name'' a producer close to the production tells me.

A SABC3 insider meanwhile tells me the competition is set to start on Monday. The competition line is 33123, will cost R2 per SMS and no free calls are applicable. ''The name should not be limited to just Afrikaans as the programme will be bilingual – so we encourage viewers to give us an Afrikaans or an English name,'' I'm told. ''The show will not be a current affairs or news driven programme but more a lifestyle breakfast show that will offer various lifestyle related segments such as fitness tips, weather and traffic reports and a style section.'' There's no limit on the amount of times people can enter or names they can suggest, but only one name for the show per SMS will be allowed. The winner will win an overseas trip worth thousands of rands.

I specifically asked whether a name suggested by a viewer will definitely win and be used as the show's title, or whether Tswelopele Productions will still  - if they don't get good ideas - choose their own name. ''The name will definitely be from the suggested names from our viewers,'' I'm told.
