Devi Sankaree Govender on Carte Blanche Consumer: ''We've been completely inundated by viewers.''

I ran past Devi Sankaree Govender from Carte Blanche and the anchor of the new Carte Blanche Consumer Thursdays at 19:00 on M-Net, who quickly stopped for a chat. Devi tells me that it's amazing to work on Carte Blanche Consumer and a TV show giving a real voice to viewers. I asked her how the past few months since January has been for her.

''It's been fantastic because we've grown a huge lot since January. What's been amazing for me is that we've really, really tapped into our market of viewers. We've always had people calling us and people begging us to do this story, or that story – and now we've been completely inundated by viewers. The quality of stories have absolutely been fantastic coming from our viewers. We've always thought we could research our own stories better ourselves. But a lot of our viewers who send us stories to Carte Blanche Consumer have all the records, they've kept everything, and they make it easy for us to tell and air their grievances with companies and service providers.''

Devi Sankaree Govender tells me although Carte Blanche Consumer is still finding its feet, its firing on all cylinders trying to get resolution for consumers who approach the show with a myriad of complaints. ''Carte Blanche Consumer is really only a few months old at this stage and the show is still finding its place,'' she says, ''but for Carte Blanche Consumer one thing has been very clear right from the beginning and that's ''go-go-go!'' for the crooks.''

BREAKING. Legend of the Seeker cancelled.

I have to break the bad news to you that Legend of the Seeker has been cancelled. Entertainment Weekly is first to report that the terrific fantasy show, filmed in New Zealand, will cease production at the end of the current second season.

Earlier the month I told you RIGHT HERE that Legend of the Seeker's upcoming second season will move from M-Net to Vuzu (DStv 123) when the new - and now final - 22 episodes will start. The second season of Legend of the Seeker with Craig Horner and Bridget Regan will debut on Vuzu on Friday, 28 May at 20:30.

BREAKING. TV special, Captive in North Korea, to air in May on TopTV's Current TV.

Current TV (TopTV 406) - one of the news and information channels that will be included on the TopTV satellite service of On Digital Media (ODM) that launches commercially on Saturday - will broadcast an arresting documentary special on 19 May, entitled Captive in North Korea.

TopTV's launch is just in time for South Africans who, with Captive in North Korea, will be able to watch the story of Current TV journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee who were held captive by the North Koreans for more than four months early last year. They were filming an episode for the fourth season of the Current TV documentary show Vanguard that South Africans will now also be be able to see. Both were sentenced to 12 years of hard labour before the former American president Bill Clinton negotiated their release.

Current TV was started by the former American vice president Al Gore who will be in South Africa on Thursday evening for the official TopTV launch party. I will be there too and I have a press conference with Al Gore on Friday morning after I broke the news of his upcoming attendance RIGHT HERE.

BREAKING. TopTV set top boxes now in shops - but only displayed and sold from Saturday.

I can exclusively reveal first that the new TopTV decoders which I showed you RIGHT HERE first have been received by shops who will start to sell them from this Saturday.

Shops are under strict orders and super embargo's by On Digital Media (ODM) NOT to display the TopTV set top boxes (STB) before this Saturday, 1 May, which is the first date that they can go on sale. I can tell you that the TopTV STB will be sold by outlets like Checkers, Hi-Fi Corporation, Jet, Checkers etc. from Saturday.

What potential new satellite TV subscribers to TopTV needs to do is go to one of these shops selling a TopTV STB and buy one of the decoders. A subscriber then needs to call On Digital Media who will send a subscriber a list of three installers to choose from. A subscriber then choose an installer. The accredited installer - which the subscriber will not be paying at this point  - goes out and does the standard installation. The accredited installer will supply a 90cm satellite TV dish, as well as a cable up to 20 metres. It's also the installer who will activate the service once the installation is completed.

Earlier today I told you RIGHT HERE that Idols lured more than 2 000 on it's Johannesburg audition day and now I can reveal first that despite rain showers, more than 2 100 contestants have pitched up for their chance to be singing in the rain.

The national audition process for Idols (read about Cape Town HERE, read about Durban HERE) is energizing South African TV viewers like never before. The national turn-out is a massive  achievement for a reality show already in it's sixth season and which was slightly dented after last year's voting scandal. South Africans are turning up and waiting it out en masse for their chance to sing for the judges. Just like Cape Town and Durban, Johannesburg pulled more than 2 100 contestants compared to less than 1 500 in the previous fifth season of Idols. This means that Idols is set for a season of record entries, with Port Elizabeth (2 May) and Bloemfontein (8 May) that will still get their audition days.

A former Idols top contestant made a surprise appearance and the drizzle didn't dampen the contestants who waited eagerly, yet patiently in line for their turn.

BREAKING. All Access fly boy Jason Greer gets grounded.

Jetsetter Jason Greer from All Access got ''eclipsed'' and grounded (and didn't make it to Britain this past week as I told you RIGHT HERE he's planning to do) - which also saw the All Access producers scrambling to plan, find and film replacement inserts for M-Net's weekly entertainment magazine show on Fridays at 19:30.

Jason Greer was supposed to jet to Britain this past week for several stories for All Access but got grounded because of the erupting volcano in Iceland and the subsequent flight ban due to the volcanic ash cloud. I can tell you that Jason Greer was supposed to be onboard the super luxurious cruise ship Celebrity Eclipse in Southampton, but he was unable to get there in time.

Also nixed: a planned All Access isnert on the Professional Football Association Awards in London where the footie world's premiere players got together. The producers will apparently try to get an All Access presenter onto the Celebrity Eclipse later during the year.

BREAKING. E! Entertainment to celebrate its 20th anniversary in June in a big way.

Only at once place is entertainment celebrated with a capital letter as well as an exclamation mark, and that is the E! Entertainment channel on DStv 124 - which I can reveal is turning 20 years old in June.

I can also tell you that E! Entertainment definitely plans to mark it's special two decade anniversary in a very special way. I'm not spilling everything just yet, but viewers will definitely not be forgotten, and the stuff you're going to get to see - pure entertainment as E! Entertainment looks back over the past two decades since the channel started. Of course South African viewers only started seeing E! Entertainment much later, but it doesn't matter.

South African TV viewers (who wasn't aware of it at the time) got their first glimpse at E! Entertainment when M-Net syndicated portions of today's daily E! News forerunner, E! News Daily and aired it during the day. Then, when e.tv started in 1998, that broadcaster took it over, until E! Entertainment eventually launched as a DStv channel in December 2004  (I was at the official launch event in Taboo in Johannesburg.) You might remember the all white background of the former E! News Daily, the orange exclamation mark (sometimes filled with water and gold fish) and anchors Jules Asner and Steve Kmetko.

I was first RIGHT HERE early this morning to tell you that M-Net is not considering, and never has considered, pressing any fraud charges against Jub Jub . Now I can tell you that although the broadcaster is superbly polite and friendly, M-Net (that paid out over R2 million this past week to various charities as part of Survivor SA Santa Carolina) is simply fuming behind the scenes about an erroneous tabloid trash piece where another journalist got it all wrong about Jub Jub (Molemo ''Jub Jub'' Maarohanye - and making M-Net look bad.
