Deen Channel completes the move to its new headquarters in Epping, Cape Town.

The Deen Channel (StarSat 265) has completed its relocation this week to its new headquarters in Epping, Cape Town.

Deen Channel's new head office include better studio facilities and administration space from where the lifestyle TV channel with an Islamic ethos broadcasting on StarSat in South Africa and China's StarTimes elsewhere, is being run.

The new headquarters includes conferencing facilities and the Deen Channel says the move marks a new chapter in the history of the channel.

In June the Deen Channel opened its Johannesburg office.

Hassim Jogee, Deen Channel board chairperson, says the move to a new Cape Town office and studio space was crucial to the growth of the channel.

The Deen Channel on StarSat continues its expansion, opening an office in Johannesburg headed up by Fathima Bux.

The Deen Channel (StarSat 265), a lifestyle TV channel with an Islamic ethos broadcasting on StarSat in South Africa and China's StarTimes elsewhere in Africa, is expanding its channel operations to Johannesburg, Gauteng with the appointment of Fathima Bux who will head up Deen's Gauteng business as the channel continues to expand.

Deen Channel already has offices in Cape Town and Durban.

"I think that the timing was apt, we have just completed a major technical upgrade into Johannesburg which benches up the service in terms of programming and technical capability," says Faizal Sayed, Deen Channel CEO who is also the host of a TV talk show on the channel.

According to Faizal Sayed, the new Johannesburg expansion makes the Deen Channel accessible for advertising and community event participation.

"I believe that Deen Channel is the future of television in this space, being the only lifestyle channel with an Islamic ethos hosting a spectrum of relevant programming," says Fathima Bux. "Content appeals to everyone touching on many lifestyle aspects and challenging controversial topics that effect positive change".

Board chairman and sales director, Hassim Jogee who is based in the Durban office, said that the new Gauteng expansion paves the way for advertisers from the region to make contact with the Deen Channel.

Deen Channel says the channel will soon announce a "global access" plan following the channel's abrupt axing from Platco Digital's OpenView HD (OVHD) free-to-air satellite platform at the end of September.

Deen TV, a privately owned lifestyle TV channel with an Islamic ethos and owned by Deen Media Holdings (Pty). Ltd was started in 2011 and remains available on the Chinese StarTimes Media SA and On Digital Media's (ODM) StarSat on channel 365.

Deen Channel says its strengthening its relationship with StarTimes Media and StarSat following the scuppered relationship with eMedia Investments.

Faizal Sayed, Deen TV CEO and Hassim Jogee, board chairperson, met StarTimes Media management to discuss the distribution of Deen on digital terrestrial television (DTT) and on StarTimes' direct--to-home (DTH) platforms across 30 countries in Africa.

Faizal Sayed says the Deen Channel will "shortly announce it's global access plans making the channel readily available globally".

"After an influx of upset viewers after the channel left OpenView HD we have realised more than ever the need for the channel and the role it plays within the landscape of cultural diversity and content delivery," says Faizal Sayed.

"With this in mind, we aim to increase operations noting viewer shifts towards the channel and its current partner platforms".

Deen TV starts Deen TV News tonight at 19:00 as the channel adds its first-ever primetime TV news bulletin slot to the schedule.

Deen TV (StarSat  355 / OVHD 152) is suddenly starting TV news with the growing South African lifestyle TV channel with an Islamic ethos starting a primetime TV news bulletin, Deen TV News, from tonight at 19:00 with news anchor Danyal Zaal (left).

Deen TV News will provide world news and cover breaking stories during the primetime TV segment.

Faizal Sayed, CEO of Deen TV who is also the host of his own TV talk show on the channel, says the primetime TV news is in response for the demand for current affairs information from viewers.

"Deen TV tested the readership response from the website and feels that viewers are now expecting to see the news," says Faizal Sayed. "It falls in line with my global picture and news is a global matter".

"One of the the big focuses of Deen TV News is to educate and uplift people through the news and other segments". It's envisioned that in future Deen TV News could become its own 24-hour TV news channel as the channel's news operations and newsroom grows.

Faizal Sayed, host of the talk show The Faizal Sayed Show on Deen TV (StarSat 355 / OVHD 152 ) has been appointed as the first CEO of Deen TV, the Islamic South African TV channel.

Hassim Jogee is now the chief financial officer (CFO) of Deen TV.

The Islamic channel launched two years ago in South Africa and was previously run directly by it's board on which Faizal Sayed served as vice president.

"The focus is now to grow the channel into an international brand and beyond," says Faizal Sayed. "This year many changes towards a better viewing experience will transpire, especially as we finalise our technological upgrades and programme reshuffling."

Besides his appointment as CEO, The Faizal Sayid Show enters a new and revamped season of the talk show.

"Faizal Sayed was aptly positioned for the CEO position, having 14 years of experience in television with hundreds of productions to his credit," says Farouk Arieff, Deen TV's board chairperson.
