Zimbabwean cameraman and singer-songwriter Ray Ceeh murdered in Cape Town.

The Zimbabwean cameraman Ray Chifamba (33) known as Ray Ceeh who was also a singer-songwriter has been murdered in Lentegeur in Cape Town after he was shot in the neck on Wednesday night in his vehicle.

Siyabulela Malo, police spokesperson says Ray Ceeh was killed around 22:43 in Maartbloom Steet in Lentegeur in Mitchells Plain with a murder investigation that is underway.

"Lentegeur police responded to a complaint and upon their arrival noticed a white vehicle that had driven into the wall at the mentioned address. It was apparent that the victim was about to drop passengers in the area when three unknown men approached his vehicle and fired one shot to his neck and he lost control of the vehicle".

Ray Ceeh was about to drop passengers when three unknown men shot him.

Ray Ceeh worked at Durham Studios in Woodstock and released his first music video this year and also produced his own podcast show, The Ray Show.

Ray Ceeh who moved from Zimbabwe to South Africa previously worked for the Muslim lifestyle channel Deen Channel (StarSat 265) as a cameraman.

"He was the life of our office and brought smiles to the faces of many," said Faizal Sayed, Deen Channel CEO. "He was determined and a hard worker. He always wanted to be someone in life and his life was unfortunately cut short."

"He came to SA from Zimbabwe as a very talented person. He always wanted to help his mother. He produced music, he sang very well. I haven't been able to work all morning, we are all shattered by the news," said Faizal Sayed.

"There is no justification. He saw South Africa as an outlet for him to be somebody and make a future here. It's a disgrace that his life was taken here."

Deen Channel completes the move to its new headquarters in Epping, Cape Town.

The Deen Channel (StarSat 265) has completed its relocation this week to its new headquarters in Epping, Cape Town.

Deen Channel's new head office include better studio facilities and administration space from where the lifestyle TV channel with an Islamic ethos broadcasting on StarSat in South Africa and China's StarTimes elsewhere, is being run.

The new headquarters includes conferencing facilities and the Deen Channel says the move marks a new chapter in the history of the channel.

In June the Deen Channel opened its Johannesburg office.

Hassim Jogee, Deen Channel board chairperson, says the move to a new Cape Town office and studio space was crucial to the growth of the channel.

Deen Channel adds new Monday night political series, Be the Change, with political scientist Dr Lubna Nadvi.

The Deen Channel (StarSat 265) this week added a new Monday night political series entitled, Be the Change, fronted by the academic and political scientist Dr Lubna Nadvi from KwaZulu-Natal.

Be The Change is broadcast weekly on Mondays at 20:30 on the Deen Channel with repeats on Sundays at 19:00.

The Deen Channel on StarSat continues its expansion, opening an office in Johannesburg headed up by Fathima Bux.

The Deen Channel (StarSat 265), a lifestyle TV channel with an Islamic ethos broadcasting on StarSat in South Africa and China's StarTimes elsewhere in Africa, is expanding its channel operations to Johannesburg, Gauteng with the appointment of Fathima Bux who will head up Deen's Gauteng business as the channel continues to expand.

Deen Channel already has offices in Cape Town and Durban.

Deen Channel says the channel will soon announce a "global access" plan following the channel's abrupt axing from Platco Digital's OpenView HD (OVHD) free-to-air satellite platform at the end of September.

Deen TV, a privately owned lifestyle TV channel with an Islamic ethos and owned by Deen Media Holdings (Pty). Ltd was started in 2011 and remains available on the Chinese StarTimes Media SA and On Digital Media's (ODM) StarSat on channel 365.

Deen Channel says its strengthening its relationship with StarTimes Media and StarSat following the scuppered relationship with eMedia Investments.

Faizal Sayed, Deen TV CEO and Hassim Jogee, board chairperson, met StarTimes Media management to discuss the distribution of Deen on digital terrestrial television (DTT) and on StarTimes' direct--to-home (DTH) platforms across 30 countries in Africa.
