M-Net still investigating the technical problems that took Monday's episode of funeral-home set series Grootboom & Sons off air on DStv's Mzansi Magic channel.

A day after technical problems abruptly brought an end to the broadcast of the next episode of Grootboom & Sons on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) on Monday night, M-Net is still at a loss to explain what went wrong.

DStv subscribers complained on Monday night and wondered what happened when only roughly about the first 8 minutes of the third episode of the Grootboom & Sons drama series was shown on Mzansi Magic in the 20:00-timeslot before it abruptly ended and MultiChoice filled the rest of the timeslot with an unending barrage of TV commercials and DStv promos.

Grootboom & Sons is produced by the Marketing and Entertainment Communications Agency (MECA) as a 13-episode drama series, revolving around a family funeral business starring Zandile Msutwana, Bongile Mantsai and Charmaine Mtinta in which the funeral-home owner hands over the business to her sons, only for her estranged sister to return.

On Twitter hours later on Monday night, Mzansi Magic said that "Mzansi Magic would like to apologise to viewers for the abrupt technical glitches during the broadcast of Grootboom & Sons. Viewers can catch the repeat episode and can also watch it on the DStv app".

A Mzansi Magic publicist told TVwithThinus on Tuesday in response to a media query about what happened that MultiChoice and M-Net are still investigating what went wrong and that the channel is still awaiting feedback from the technical division.
