On Thursday a veritable crush collection of media, high profile TV channel executives, as well as the top TV bosses from MultiChoice, M-Net and SuperSport will be descending on Magaliesburg in Gauteng.

What awaits is a jam-packed two-day TV enclave where channel and content executives will talk television, unveil programming, and are also set to make some major announcements at the MultiChoice Media Showcase 2017.

At the MultiChoice Media Showcase 2017, MultiChoice South Africa executives as well as some of the individual TV channel brands available on DStv will make presentations and do panel sessions and will see a large number of information being shared with TV critics and journalists covering television.

Presentations will range from channels like M-Net, kykNET, National Geographic and SuperSport to, for instance, BBC Worldwide Africa and Mzansi Magic who will all do panel sessions during which a a large number of information will be shared with TV critics and journalists covering television.

The two-day MultiChoice Media Showcase 2017 taking place over Thursday and Friday will be filled with content sharing as media from a wide range of outlets converge for the multi-structured TV info bonanza.

Journalists from across South Africa will partake in panel sessions and various TV presentations, question and answer opportunities – and a few surprises – as media gets the opportunity to interact with TV executives and a gaggle of local TV presenters and celebrities.

MultiChoice says its doing the MultiChoice Media Showcase 2017 – something it's done in the past in South Africa but not to this extent – to inform the media about the pay-TV operator's latest developments and programming updates and changes.

“The MultiChoice Media Showcase is about giving the media insight into our world of entertainment, showcasing our content across the DStv channels and also making some key announcements about our channels and services over the two days," says the Randburg-based pay-TV operator.

"This is also an opportunity to interact with our executives and communication professionals from across the MultiChoice South Africa group".

MultiChoice says executives from MultiChoice South Africa, M-Net and SuperSport will present at the MultiChoice Media Showcase 2017.

This includes appearances by Mark Rayner, MultiChoice South Africa CEO; Aletta Alberts,MultiChoice head of content; Yolisa Phahle, M-Net CEO; Nkateko Mabaso, M-Net South Africa group general manager; Jan du Plessis, M-Net channels channel director; Karen Meiring, kykNET channels channel director; Reneilwe Sema, M-Net channel director for local entertainment channels, and Gideon Khobane, SuperSport CEO.

Also invited to present and talk at the two-day Magaliesburg TV confab are international channel and content partners and executives representing international TV channel brands.

Hamish Mykura, the executive vice president of programming and development for National Geographic is in South Africa and will for the first time meet and address the large South African media contingent since the yellow frame channel group launched in South Africa and Africa a number of years ago.

The Johannesburg-based Joel Churcher, vice president and general manager for BBC Worldwide Africa and just back from the BBC’s annual BBC Content Showcase 2017 in Liverpool, will also make a showing to present.

Meanwhile local TV stars and various presenters from across shows on DStv will join some of the presentations as well as for the evening function taking place on Thursday.

MultiChoice says approximately 50 media across television, entertainment and technology publications from across print, broadcast and online will attend the MultiChoice Content Showcase 2017.

MultiChoice did a general media engagement almost a decade ago in Magaliesburg but that 2017 two-day TV tour will dwarf the one before.

Why it chose Magaliesburg, MultiChoice says "We wanted a venue that will allow us to give the media undivided attention for the time we are there. It also gives us the opportunity to engage more informally outside of the presentations".

The hashtag for the MultiChoice Content Showcase 2017 on social media will be #DStv2017
