You're reading it here first.

The SABC's soap Isidingo on SABC3 is also safe following the devastating fire which ripped through Sasani Studios yesterday afternoon and caused the shut-down of M-Net and DStv's Big Brother Africa Hotshots TV with Thinus can report.

The soap filmed on the same lot, resumed production and is filming today, as did e.tv's Rhythm City and Scandal! which were all evacuated yesterday.

Big Brother Africa Hotshots produced by Endemol South Africa was supposed to launch with a live broadcast event this coming Sunday evening at 19:00 on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform with broadcasts on M-Net's AfricaMagic Showcase (DStv 150) channel, as well as two DStv channels - 197 and 198 - broadcasting for 24-hours each across the African continent.

All three TV soaps are fine and have resumed production at Sasani Studios's Highland North complex in Johannesburg called "soap city" where SABC1's Gospel Gold and other shows like e.tv's I Love South Africa are produced.

"We are shooting," Isidingo tells TV with Thinus. "When it happened we did evacuate until it was certain that everyone was safe, before going back to shoot".

"Nothing was affected and the production is functioning well. Viewers can remain calm and keep watching Isidingo. We are right on schedule and the episodes will be delivered to SABC3 on time as we did prior to the fire," says a spokesperson.
