MultiChoice expands its digital terrestrial television (DTT) coverage in Sub-Saharan Africa on Intelsat.

MultiChoice is expanding its digital terrestrial television (DTT) coverage in Sub-Saharan Africa with more C-band capacity on the Intelsat 904 satellite.

That enables MultiChoice to enhance and broaden its GOtv branded DTT service in existing Sub-Saharan African countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Namibia and Malawi, as well as countries such as South Africa where DTT has not yet been commercially switched on.

"We are able to broaden our reach in Sub-Saharan Africa and deliver more affordable and differentiated programming to the region," says Nico Meyer, the CEO of MultiChoice Africa in a statement about the Intelsat deal.

"DTT is an important growth area for MultiChoice, and the quality, reliability and reach of Intelsat's satellite network enable us to continue to expand our customer base and grow our GOtv product offering across the continent".
