Programming note: Fox News Channel looks at whether the end of the world is coming on 21 December 2012 in Countdown to Doomsday.
Fox News Reporting Thursday morning at 04:00 (South African time) on the Fox News Channel (TopTV 405) will be looking at the Mayan legend and the ancient theory that the world will be ending on 21 December 2012.
Bill Hemmer is the presenter of this Fox News Reporting special entitled "Countdown to Doomsday" which is based on the premise that the end of the world is coming since 21 December 2012 is the day on which the Mayan calendar stops.
Exactly a month before 21 December, the hour long TV special with Adam Housley explores the mystery of the Maya and why Doomsday has been pinned on them. At the battlefield of Armageddon, Lauren Green investigates the Book of Revelation's end times battle between Good and Evil and the belief that the "second coming of Christ" is imminent.
Amy Kellogg discovers what the Maya shared with the Neolithic builders of Stonehenge and with those who erected amazing megalithic monuments around the world.
"The Mayan theory came from the movement of the sun and how it aligns itself every 365 days on the winter solstice. And that's what they based everything on. It's a fascinating theory," says Bill Hemmer.
