History not willing to say what special Titanic programming South African viewers will be seeing in April.

It's odd (and somewhat insulting) that A+E Networks UK which runs History (DStv 254) and the Crime & Investigation Network (DStv 255) isn't willing to share its special programming plans for the Titanic's 100th anniversary in April with South African viewers.

It might be that A+E Networks UK sees South Africa as some backwater for programming and while A+E Networks UK readily shares information regarding Titanic shows with overseas trades such as European publications, that's not the case here.

Waiting for weeks for an answer, A+E Networks UK, after repeatedly asked for possible Titanic programming in April - and after Discovery and National Geographic Channels International already earlier made exciting announcements, finally mustered a tepid reply.

''History is planning to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Tianic with a number of programmes in April,'' said A+E Networks UK in a two sentence reply. ''We have not released our schedule yet, but will do so in the near future and will keep you informed.''

Meanwhile A+E Networks already told overseas trade publications about upcoming History programming in April regarding Titanic such as Titanic at 100: Mystery Solved, Titanic: 100 Years and Nazi Titanic about the Nazi propaganda minister Goebbels' attempt to make a movie based on a fictional account of what happened.
