The 2nd season of Flash! on SABC3 will have a weekly celebrity guest; provide social media scoop.

The second season of the weekly entertainment news show Flash! starting Friday 7 October at 21:00 for 26 half hour episodes on SABC3 and which is now looking for a presenter, is planning to have a weekly celebrity guest and will have a strong focus on giving TV viewers social media scoop.

''The immediacy and interactivity of social media has made it a near impossibility to actually 'break' the news,'' says Cecil Barry, Flash! executive producer. ''Often, how it 'breaks' through social media streams is more interesting and newsworthy than the news itself. Flash! embraces this social trend and uses it to differentiate both its positioning and the delivery of local entertainment news. Flash! amplifies what's out there in a savoir-faire way; the Flash! way. It's all in the approach.''

The second season of Flash! produced by Red Pepper Productions says the show will aim to put the spotlight on South Africa's social scene, bringing viewers more local entertainment news and celebrities, the story behind the story, ''the confessions you haven't heard, the latest info on everybody who's somebody in South Africa''.

''Flash! is clever without trying too hard, slightly irreverent and most importantly, current,'' says Cecil Barry. The show will contain a number of regular and light-hearted segments that focus on celebrity culture, entertainment and TV show news, music, movies and viewer generated content. Regular segments will include NewsFlash (unpacking the week's exclusive stories), Flashtistics (interesting social media statistics), FlashFrame (funny stuff found on the web or viewer's photos taken with celebs) and end with the Clip of the Week (a video clip, tweet, statement or event).

Flash! will also try to have a weekly celebrity guest on set and a host of contributors will provide the show with ''inside, never-heard-or-seen before social media scoop''. ''Flash! employs the social media matrix to the max and uses it to enlighten viewers on all aspects of celebrity culture. A large portion of Flash! will be dedicated to the delivery of such news,'' says Ingrid Bell, Flash! producer.

Although the show will be scripted, a large portion of the show will rely on the new Flash! presenter's ad-libbed commentary bringing viewers highlights from the past week.
