You're reading it here first.

''Flash! is going to become the agenda setting platform for celebrity and showbiz news on Friday evenings,'' says Lefa Afrika, SABC3 programming manager about the new second season of the weekly local entertainment news show Flash! that will be starting on SABC3 on Friday 7 October at 21:00.

''Flash! will blog about itself; Flash! will actually have breaking news and break news through using social networks before people read it in the Sunday newspapers,'' he says. ''Viewers will be able to verify rumours through Flash! - whether things are true or not,'' says Lefa Afrika.

The production company, Red Pepper Productions, describing the new second season of Flash!  as ''SABC3's new local half hour entertainment sensation, says ''there are so many details on the red carpet that you don't want to miss. The specifics that you want to know. Details that will make up the whole story - that's just beyond your reach. But someone is always there ... Flash! looking out for the story behind the story.''

Flash! says it wants to ''take South Africa's social media antics and entertainment news to the next level.

''The all new season of Flash! will channel social media streams and position itself as a conduit through which the South African entertainment arena presents itself on TV from bloggers, to Facebook, from hot tweets to celebs' reps. Flash! aims to bring an all new spotlight to South Africa's social scene and to bring viewers more entertainment news, more celebrities and more opportunities for exposure''.

Flash! is promising ''A list sightings, hot-off-the-press exclusives, the juicy headlines, all the news about local celebs and everything you want to know as it happens on the South African scene''.

''Flash! is going to be shorter, a lot pacier. The first season of Flash! was one hour long and it was too much,'' says Lefa Afrika. ''Celebrity news ... you don't want to drag that out. Flash! will be flashy - it will be a weekly show about local celebrity issues. Just like Entertainment Tonight, it's literally going to be fresh celebrity and showbiz news coming to viewers before they read it on the weekend. That's how we're positioning Flash!,'' he says.
