I can exclusively break the news that SABC3's looking at returning its local weekly entertainment show Flash! for another, and retooled, season with Flash! set to return to SABC3 to complement the American entertainment news show Entertainment Tonight on Fridays from October.
I can reveal that Flash! is set to be back on SABC3 on Friday 7 October at 21:00 for 26 half hour episodes - something I told said in May last year RIGHT HERE would be happening to the originally hour long show if it were to return to SABC3.
Flash! that started in 2009 on SABC3 with anchor presenters Viwe Soga and Isabella de Villiers quickly caused some scandal of its own when Isabella de Villiers got dumped and replaced with Rachel Stuart after just 17 episodes. No word yet from sources on whether indeed Viwe Soga and, or Rachel Stuart will be back for Flash!'s second season.
Flash! that debuted in 2009 on SABC3 with anchor presenters Viwe Soga and Isabella de Villiers was set to return in 2010 to SABC3 but due to the SABC's financial implosion and management unheaval, a second season wasn't and couldn't be commissioned.
The plan is for Flash! to provide half an hour of local entertainment news with the magazine show following right after the hour long Entertainment Tonight starting at 20:00 on SABC3 on Fridays. The trick now will be to try and have Flash! not look seriously amateurish compared to the production values of the longrunning Entertainment Tonight that has a global reach and access to American and international stars.
