The new 7th season of Idols (Sundays, M-Net 17:30) produced by Nevermachine for the pay broadcaster revealed a brand-new opener sequence at the beginning of the first new episode of the reality show in South Africa.
The new Idols opener incorporates more colour and a warm sunset/twilight tone, a new play on some of the hyper reality vestiges of fame that's the implied promise of the show, and kept the electric guitar riff iconic to the sound of the show.
Soft yellow spotlights now beam to the sky from a massive stage/arena, while the camera angle circles projected moving billboard images of Idols stars from previous seasons incorporating some pink, orange and purple. It has a wider range of blues in the opener and less green than previously seen. The Idols logo appear somewhat more ''3D'' than ever before, encircled by a more liquid silver elliptical design.
The new Idols opener looks fresh and exciting and creates an overtone akin to a ''vibrant nightlife'' and ''performing in the spotlight''. It looks contemporary, very much internationally styled and gives the show a sophisticated reality show feel.
