BREAKING. Parliamentary hearing of SABC board now moved to November 23 right before the Christmas recess.
You're reading it here first.
I'm told that the follow-up appearance of the SABC board and SABC board chairperson dr Ben Ngubane to answer about infighting, the public broadcaster's turnaround strategy, mismanagement, the latest annual report and various issues surrounding corporate governance breaches like the appointment of Phil Molefe as the SABC's head of news has now been rescheduled for 23 November.
After the appearance of the SABC board before parliament's portfolio committee for communications with new acting chairperson Sikhumbuzo Eric Kholwane was suddenly postponed first ''indefinitely'', and then to November 26, it has now been shifted and pencilled in for November 23. That puts it right at the end and on the verge of the government's year before parliament's recess for Christmas. One more postponement or the SABC bigwigs not submitting the necessary documentation timeously beforehand, and parliament's SABC enquiry will spill over into 2011.
(By the way I told you that the remaining SABC board will be meeting the new minister of communications Roy Padayachie today, and that is still on track.)
