BREAKING. M-Net goes for better safe than sorry: Winner of Idols won't be announced in the Sunday live finale - only the Tuesday after.
You're reading it here first.
After the voting scandal during the live finale of the fifth season of Idols on M-Net, I can reveal that there won't be a winner chosen and announced during the live Sunday finale of the sixth season of Idols this year on the pay broadcaster.
Let's call it The Day After the Day, After Tomorrow: The pay broadcaster is erring on the side of caution and I can tell you that the winner of this year's Idols will only be made known on the Tuesday two days after the Sunday live finale in November on M-Net. In May I broke the news RIGHT HERE that M-Net will be moving Monday's Idols Results Shows to a Tuesday in this sixth season and this similar procedure will be followed for the live finale.
Viewers will be able to vote from Sundays at 17:30 until Mondays at 22:00 after which voting lines will close in this sixth season of Idols. Votes will then be tallied and the announcement made on who's going home on a Tuesday evening. ''To ensure that there's no bottleneck in the SMS vote delivery as a result of last-minute voting, M-Net has introduced a window period between the closing time for votes and vote announcement,'' the pay channel says.
