You're reading it here first.

I can be first to tell you that 13 people from Port Elizabeth have made it through to the theatre round in the sixth season of Idols that visited the city the past few days. Idols made an audition stop in Port Elizabeth for the first time in quite a few seasons where 13 people got scooped up by the judges and where HHP visited - here giving a hug to the new Idols co-host ProVerb.

So far Cape Town yielded 27 contestants, Durban 20, and Johannesburg 25, which - added to Port Elizabeth's 13- means that Idols for the theatre round is standing at 85 contestants which this year is taking place at Sun City.

I'm told by Idols insiders that the producers are not necessarily looking for a perfect 100. ''They're taking everyone who's good and sings well. It can be more than 100; it can be less.'' There's still one audition stop left: Bloemfontein on Saturday which is the first time that Idols will be having an audition day there.
