I can show you some of today's Idols audition day in Durban where hordes of hopefuls once again lined-up outside the 1 On 1 Conference Centre at the Gateway Theatre Of Shopping in Umhlanga. The KwaZulu-Natal multitudes queued since early, with every one hoping they have the voice to take it far in the upcoming sixth season of Idols kicking off in July on M-Net.

Remember him? Daniel Wessels (21) who was a finalist in M-Net's other local reality show High School Musical: Spotlight South Africa in 2008 was one of the people queuing patiently in Durban today for his chance to try and wow the Idols judges and possibly snag a Golden Ticket to the theatre round that will be taking place at Sun City this year. The Durban Idols judges, Randall Abrahams, Mara Louw and Gareth Cliff will be joined by guest judge for the region, Steve Hofmeyr.

Two more Idols hopefuls today in Durban - Alethia Naidoo and Edwin Mudaly - show that their paperwork is in order for their shot at possible fame and fortune. They also queued and waited for their chance to enter the sixth season of the local reality show on M-Net. Everyone who wanted to audition in Durban had to enter today for the chance to appear before the Idols judges today and Monday.

The Durban audition day of Idols had a tag team today. Nuno Goncalves (33) queued with his wife Carmen Goncalves (25), a horseriding instructor from Durban. ''I'm the support system,'' he said. Carmen Goncalves was already at the 1 On 1 Conference Centre at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping at 05:00 this morning - even before the Idols production crew arrived, waiting with anticipation to perform Shakira's ''Underneath Your Clothes'' for the judges.
After Durban, the sixth season of Idols will continue with the rest of the nationwide audition phase with Johannesburg on 24 April (Sandton International Convention Centre), Port Elizabeth on 2 May (Boardwalk shopping centre) and Bloemfontein on 8 May (Windmill entertainment centre). Anyone between 16 and 30 is eligible to enter and contestants need to bring their ID book, and if they want, a musical instrument.
