On Thursday On Digital Media (ODM) revealed that it's new pay TV platform will be called TopTV that will launch in May. Of course I was first, way back in February, to to reveal the TopTV name RIGHT HERE. But where does the name of TopTV come from, how did ODM decide on TopTV and why did they go with it? Only I have the answer.

I spoke with Elouise Kelly, chief marketing officer for On Digital Media (ODM) and asked her about the TopTV name specifically - how they came up with it and why they decided on that.
''You know how these things go. You get a team of people together and then you start brainstorming of what the brand needs to represent in line with the market,'' Elouise Kelly told me.
''There was quite a bit of work that went into the name. We created a shortlist and in the end we felt comfortable with TopTV. We wanted something that was easy, would roll easily off the tongue and something that would represent where we as an entity wanted to be for our consumers. We didn't want an acronymn or anything like that, we wanted a simple name that is short and beautiful visually - so that is where TopTV comes from.''
