BREAKING. SABC still owes TV producers MILLION$! Producers feels ''duped''.

You're reading it here first. The SABC that recorded a MASSIVE loss of R913 million in the latest financial year ending March 2009 STILL OWES TV PRODUCERS IN SOUTH AFRICA millions of rands - and that after TWO OFFICIAL PROMISES as well as a A WRITTEN PAYMENT SCHEDULE that the SABC compiled itself (and which I saw).

''We are very disappointed that the interim SABC board did not has not kept its word to our sector  in resolving the crisis around non-payment to producers and artists,'' says the TV Industry Emergency Coalition (TVIEC)

''There remain millions of rands in unpaid debt to the independent production sector and this amount is growing daily,'' says the TVIEC.

''We feel duped,'' says the TVIEC. ''Despite numerous promises by the interim board that paying the independent sector was one of the clear objectives of their tenure, this has not been achieved.''

The TVIEC was formed in March after the looming crisis at the SABC spiralled out of control. The TVIEC represents thousands of workers in the local TV industry and organisations representing artists, producers and the film industry employing thousands of people.

The TVIEC consists out of the IPO (Independent Producers Organization), SASFED (South African Screen Federation), TPA (The Producers Alliance), DFA (Documentary Filmmakers Association) and WGSA.
