BREAKING. CSI Miami on M-Net and SABC3 and The Secret Circle both get cancelled.

It's the end of the road for CSI Miami (M-Net, M-Net Series, SABC3) which just got cancelled in America by the CBS network - as well as the new series The Secret Circle, set to start on Vuzu (DStv 123) sometime this year - which also got cancelled by the CW network.

CSI Miami just finished its 10th season with a shortened 19 episodes in April in America. While the CSI franchise - consisting of CSI, CSI: Miami and CSI: NY - is still popular, its nowhere near as hot as it once was. All three shows however bring in a lot of money in international distribution rights.

Both CSI: Miami and CSI: NY were up for possible cancellation, and the CBS network decided to cancel the more expensive one of the two spin-offs. CSI: NY (M-Net, The Universal Channel) will have another season in America.

"CSI: Miami leaves an amazing amazing television legacy - a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS's rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue - and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come," CBS said in a statement.

Meanwhile The Secret Circle also got the axe. Vuzu in South Africa has the broadcasting rights. Dear Cassie and her witchey coven of high schoolers drew the most viewers to the CW network in America when the first season started ... then the the teen show floundered viewership wise.

BREAKING. M-Net grabs The Secret Circle, but the new teen drama about a group of young witches won't be on Vuzu ...

You're reading it here first.

My dear Cassie, I can exclusively break the news that M-Net - the pay TV broadcaster - has acquired the broadcasting rights to the new ''teen witches'' show, The Secret Circle - but here's where it gets interesting: Only I can reveal that the show won't be on the youth channel Vuzu (DStv 123).

ALSO READ: Vuzu still negotiating for the broadcasting rights to The Secret Circle.

Sources told me last month that M-Net has snagged the new show about a group of small-town American teenagers discovering they're all witches and are slowly puzzling out their destiny and the death of their parents.

I was also told that although M-Net as a broadcaster got The Secret Circle, that the show won't be on Vuzu - the home of youth-skewing shows such as 90210 and The Vampire Diaries. An insider told me that The Secret Circle is earmarked for ... the M-Net channel (DStv 101) itself.

The placement of The Secret Circle - actually a youth show that won't be on Vuzu (remember M-Net strategy's introduced at the beginning of just last year to move all youth centred shows to Vuzu?) seems to already be something of the past.

Last month's shocking news that Glee - a youth show that used to be on M-Net and which moved to Vuzu is now suddenly moving to M-Net Series (DStv 110) indicates that the youth experiment might be over. Insiders told me Glee's viewership on Vuzu ''is not very good'' and that the show ''did not perform very well there''.

Also keep in mind that the M-Net channel inexplicably grabbed and scheduled Nikita - another youth show from the same CW network in America as The Secret Circle. If M-Net kept to its youth strategy, Nikita should rightly have been on Vuzu. It could be that M-Net is backtracking and once again interested in its own ''new'' youth timeslot. The Secret Circle could forseeably replace Nikita once it finishes its season, or possibly be placed elsewhere on the M-Net line-up.

Neither Vuzu, nor the M-Net channel has so far been willing to respond and officially confirm The Secret Circle acquisition and channel placement news.

BREAKING. Vuzu still negotiating broadcasting rights for the 3rd season of The Vampire Diaries; trying to get new teen drama The Secret Circle.

You're reading it here first.

Baff. Baff. Baff. That's 3 baffs 'cause I've got three little titbits ... first.

Baff one: Vuzu (DStv 123) is negotiating for the broadcasting rights to ... the new hour long teen drama The Secret Circle that just started and is two episodes old in America. Teen witch children discover their ancestry and ... well I've watched the two hours already shown and its good.

Baff two: There is no broadcasting rights licensing agreement yet with Vuzu for the brand-new 3rd season of The Vampire Diaries ... yet. The 3rd season of The Vampire Diaries also just started in America and is also two episodes old.

Baff three: The fact that insiders are telling me that there's no broadcasting contracts yet, indicates that Vuzu does want to continue with The Vampire Diaries, and more importantly, is in fact clearly interested in trying to get The Secret Circle. ''Still in contract stages,'' I'm told.

Oh, the scene above? Boy witch kisses girl witch in the woods, and things start to rise. Water droplets. Water droplets start to rise.
