BREAKING. The Listener on Fox Entertainment renewed for a 3rd season and a further 13 episodes by CTV in Canada.

The terrific drama about a normal guy with a mysterious past who can hear other people's thoughts, The Listener, has been renewed for a 3rd season.

The Listener with Craig Olejnik is currently in its 2nd season of the hourlong drama series on Saturdays at 20:15 on Fox Entertainment (TopTV 180). CTV, the Canadian broadcaster that produces the show, has just renewed The Listener for a 3rd season and another 13 episode order.

So basically he's not an orphan. His mother deliberately put him in foster care. Disappeared. And she knew right from the beginning that he had special powers. She also knew that there's evil people (presumably with special powers too) who mustn't be allowed to get a hold of him and she actually gave him away to protect him with different names. Very Harry Potter; and a very good show.

That's what viewers discovered in the stunning first season finale of The Listener that returns for a second season of 13 episodes tonight on Fox Entertainment (TopTV 180) at 20:15 with Craig Olejnik in the best show on South African television you're not watching.

Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik) is a paramedic who can hear people's thoughts in this drama and uses it to solve crimes and riddles regarding people and situations. He does this whilst trying to puzzle out his gift, his origins and past, and what happened to his parents (which we now know is much more pre-determined than we ever even suspected).

Toby is going to reveal his secret to someone else this season, also starts working for a new agency, the IIB (which is a kind of CIA-ish agency), and digs further into the secrets surrounding who he really is. Viewers would be well-advised to dig into this spellbinding drama too.

A great show is coming to Fox Entertainment (TopTV 180) when The Listener with Craig Olejnik as Toby Logan debuts on Saturday, 22 January at 20:15.

Combine Kyle XY, Ghost Whisperer and Early Edition and you have this supernatural show with 13 episodes in its first season (it second season will start next month in Canada) about 25 year old Toby who can hear people's thoughts. Mysteriously, this telepatic paramedic in Toronto grew up without knowing his father, and bounced from foster home to foster home.

Now he cruises the street of Toronto in an ambulance with his partner Osman ''Oz'' Bey, helping people while he can hear everyone's most intimate thoughts - while piecing together his strange past with the help of detective Charlie Marks and his on-again, off again girlfriend Olivia Fawcett.

Maaaany cool surprises are waiting in The Listener, but I won't spoil any of it. Different names, all kinds of clues, cool stories. If you like Kyle XY you'll love this show. Okay. . . I'll spoil one thing. Toby actually had to be protected and so had to be hidden away - by orders of his mother because he's special and because some people simply cannot be allowed to find . . . but I've said too much.
