ODE TO JOY. With instant chemistry, Iman Rappetti sits in to co-anchor News Night with Jeremy Maggs on the eNews Channel.

They were brilliant. And it was lovely.

A day after TV with Thinus wrote that there is no replacement yet on News Night for Bikiwe Bikitsha opposite Jeremy Maggs in the co-anchor chair on the eNews Channel (DStv 403), Iman Rappeti sat next to Jeremy Maggs tonight.

And together they were phenomenal.

Iman Rappetti and Jeremy Maggs shared a very clearly visible instant on-screen chemistry - any possible permanent team-up of the experienced and joyful two will surely work. The sophisticated, brilliant and in-tandem terrific twosome shined and made for a wonderful broadcast of News Night on the eNews Channel.

As a viewer you could feel the kinship, joy and professional reparte between the two during the whole broadcast. Iman Rappetti looked lovely and smiled often, despite the often grim breaking news to report.

The crowning glory of tonight's immensely enjoyable to watch News Night came right at the very end. As the camera pulled out it was incredibly clear that Iman Rappetti and Jeremy Maggs enjoyed the show - and co-anchoring with each other as they shared a laugh almost bordering on giddy giggles.

It was delightful to witness on the usually staid flagship news show of the channel. Permanently pairing Iman Rappetti and Jeremy Maggs will surely galvanise and reenergise News Night - that much is absolutely clear.

Programming note: Nikiwe Bikitsha anchoring News Night on the eNews Channel on her own all week from Monday.

You're reading it here first.

Nikiwe Bikitsha will be solo-anchoring News Night on the eNews Channel (DStv 403) this coming week from Monday to Friday from 18:00 to 21:00 since her News Night co-anchor Jeremy Maggs will be in Durban at the United Nations Climate Change conference, COP17, from where he'll be reporting.

e.tv told TV with Thinus that no temporary replacement as in-studio News Night co-host is planned. Nikiwe Bikitsha - although it won't be her first time - will be presenting solo. Jeremy Maggs will be field reporting from Durban for the week.
