American media reports that Disney Entertainment Television on Wednesday got rid of further workers with Disney that retrenched 140 people and with National Geographic hardest hit where 60 people lost their jobs.
The 60 workers that Disney let go at National Geographic is 13% of its workforce and comes after National Geographic already saw deep cuts to its staff over the past few years.
Other divisions where Disney got rid of workers are from the operational side of Disney's linear TV entertainment networks which is a division no longer seen as part of the area driving financial growth in the future of Disney.
According to reports, department heads were given targets to hit, with half of the job losses being in Burbank in Los Angeles where Disney Studios is, as well as in New York and in Washington D.C. where National Geographic is based.
Bloomberg first reported the job losses, noting that National Geographic and Freeform were hit hardest which are scaling back on programming.
Since 2022Disney has cut over 7 000 jobs since Bob Iger returned as CEO.
