The South African police have arrested another man and woman following a raid in Cape Town for their suspected piracy operation of allegedly selling pirate internet streaming devices that provided illegal access to MultiChoice's premium content.

The two will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Thursday.

According to MultiChoice, the raid of the suspected pirate operation was carried out by Milnerton police, as part of MultiChoice's ongoing, broader anti-piracy strategy, which has seen successful raids across multiple African countries in recent months.

MultiChoice says the pay-TV operator "remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the creative industry and ensuring that premium content is accessible only through legitimate channels."

The two suspected were arrested for allegedly violating the  Cyber Crime Act 19 of 2020, the Copyright Act 98 of 1978, and the RICA Act 70 of 2002. Law enforcement also seized several items related to the alleged illegal operation.

MultiChoice says "This latest raid underscores MultiChoice’s determination to dismantle piracy networks and protect the intellectual property of content creators. The company plans to intensify its anti-piracy efforts in the coming weeks, with further raids planned across South Africa and other African countries".
