The 25th season of Muvhango is adding some new faces and bringing some old characters back with Word of Mouth Productions saying it's returning the Venda primetime soap on SABC2 to its roots for this season with many surprises and twists in store.

"For the past 25 seasons, we have given the viewers everything from joy, tears and even anger and now we're taking it back to the origin just to remind viewers why we have been around for as long as we have," the production company says.

The Muvhango producers say the 25th season of the show promises "new storylines, new romances and constant plot twists which will have viewers grabbing on to their seats".

Joining the show is Tshepo "Howza" Mosese as the new character of Manditi, described as "woven from mystery, intelligence, ruthlessness and charisma". "Ruthlessness defines his actions as he stops at nothing to achieve his goals," the show says.

Aubrey Mmakola, known for his character of private investigator Ramashala on SABC1's Skeem Saam, joins Muvhango as Tshililo Netshitangane.

"At first glance, Tshililo is a spoiled rich kid who grew up with a silver spoon. He is strong-willed, hard-headed, and very opinionated. But when one gets to know him better, a gentle but troubled soul emerges. His passion is music and events management, but he has no musical talent but dreams of becoming the biggest booking agent for musicians," the character bio states.

Sinete Nemakonde joins Muvhango from 11 January in the role of Reneilwe "Rene" Netshitangane.

"Reneilwe is a resilient individual, shaped by the indomitable spirit of her alpha female mother. She is an elegant and stunning woman who turns heads when she walks without trying to put in effort."

Meanwhile, Mudi Mudau will play the role of Nkele Dikeledi NetshitanganeReneilwe's mother who is a top Limpopo businesswoman with ambitions to dominate the male-dominated construction industry.

The character is described as "an overbearing mother who smothers her daughter with love and money. Nkele has a dominant character, and she makes her presence felt without even trying."

Returning to Muvhango is the character of Matshdiso, played by Buhle Samuels, who is "known for her manipulative
tactics" and always gets her way.

The royal outcast of Mulalo, portrayed by Sydney Ramakuwela, also returns to Muvhango

Back from Mauritius, Mulalo creates the perception that the prodigal son has returned.

Best known for his scheming, self-victimisation and constant comparison to Azwindini, Mulalo feels that he too should have an important role in the Mukwevho family.
