The final 8th season the hugely popular fantasy drama series, Game of Thrones based on George R.R. Martin's novels will start on M-Net (DStv 101) in April.
HBO producing Game of Thrones on Tuesday finally gave a definite starting month after previously only saying the final season will make its debut in autumn 2019.
HBO released a promotional video on Tuesday through the Game of Thrones Twitter account and on YouTube on the Game of Thrones account but with recycled footage of previous seasons and the words "Every battle. Every betrayal. Every risk. Every fight. Every sacrifice. Every death. All for the Throne".
Although not an official 8th season trailer since it contains no new footage, HBO and Game of Thrones confirmed that the final season will start in April by showing the words at the end: "The Final Season April 2019".
The show ramped up the hype about the massive confrontation that awaits between the squabbling human factions in Westeros and the White Walkers who have finally broken through the wall.

While HBO has now given April as a definite starting month, there is still no definite date.
It's a given though that M-Net will broadcast Game of Thrones episodes likely at the same time at 03:00 in the mornings as they are screened in America and Express from the US later the same day or a few days later during late prime time South African time.
The final 8th season of Game of Thrones will have 6 episodes - one episode less than the 7th season's seven episodes.
Individual episodes of the 8th season of Game of Thrones will however all be much longer than usual, with some that could run as long as 90-minute feature length films.
HBO is working on several Game of Thrones spin-off series, and already ordered one pilot episode for one possible series.
In the latest 9 November issue of Entertainment Weekly and its cover story on Game of Thrones, the magazine went behind-the-scenes of "the most impossible finale in television history" that took 10 months to film and with unexpected characters in the season finale episode that viewers won't expect to see.
The 8th season of Game of Thrones will open at Winterfell with Daenerys and her army who will make their arrival.
"It's about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death," Bryan Cogman, co-executive producer told Entertainment Weekly. "It's an incredibly emotional, haunting, bittersweet final season."
Kit Harrington told the magazine that "Every season, you read at the end of the last script 'End of Season 1' or 'End of Season 2'. This read ‘'End of Game of Thrones".
