Cult week coming to Crime + Investigation from 18 November as A+E Networks launches a cult-and-crime focused event week looking at twisted faiths.


A+E Networks will be doing its first-ever week-long programming event for the Crime+Investigation (DStv 170) channel starting 18 November, focusing on the impact of cults and twisted faith related documentaries and shows.

The week-long C+I stunt-programming kicking off on the 40th anniversary of the Jonestown massacre in America, will showcase and expose various cults and programming about twisted faith groups worldwide, people who belong to it and those who managed to escape.

Besides South Africa A+E Networks will be running the "Twisted Faith" week theme in the United States, Southeast Asia, Europe,Canada and the United Kingdom during the same week, in total 100 territories around the world.

"The event is an optimal platform to exploit the channel’s strong pipeline of cults and twisted faith-related programming, while providing significant opportunities for localisation as we present investigations of universal and broader themes across the week," says Sean Cohan, president of international and digital media at A+E Networks in a statement.

The cult-week will see the premiere of No Greater Law (pictured), produced by A&E Indie Films, examining Idaho’s Treasure Valley where the lines between church and state blur, as well as new episodes of the original investigative series Cults and Extreme Belief with journalist Elizabeth Vargas.

Other shows that will premiere on Crime+Investigation during the November week include Elizabeth Smart: Autobiography, Cults and Extreme Belief, Escaping Polygamy season 3, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath: The Jehovah's WitnessesManson Speaks: Inside the Mind of a MadMan, Jonestown: The Women Behind the Massacre, Warren Jeffs: Prophet of Evil and Waco: Madman or Messiah.
