The public broadcaster's SABC2 channel has switched to a high definition (HD) feed on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform on Wednesday.
SABC2's switch from SD to HD, follows SABC1 and SABC3 that both upgraded to HD in mid-June, with the public broadcaster that said SABC2 would switch in July after the conclusion of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
All three of the SABC's terrestrial TV channels shown on DStv are now shown in high definition.
The SABC's conversion from SD to HD is part of the South African TV industry's long-stalled switch from analogue to digital terrestrial television (DTT), a process known as digital migration.
These SABC channels are also carried on StarSat, China's StarTimes SA' run satellite pay-TV platform, and SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 are now available in HD when viewed on StarSat's latest Combo 3 decoder.
eMedia Investments' Openview free-to-air satellite platform also carries SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 but it's not known if they're in HD on this platform.
