SuperSport is covering the 21st Commonwealth Games in Australia starting today, 4 April, in Australia with the bulk of the games across 18 sporting codes that will be broadcast live across the SuperSport channels on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform.
SuperSport has the exclusive pay-TV rights for the 21st Commonwealth Games across Sub-Saharan Africa in which Caster Semenya, Luvo Manyonga and the Blitzbokke Sevens team will be competing.
SuperSport will receive seven broadcast feeds from Australia's Gold Coast, the most relevant of which will be broadcast on four of the SuperSport channels on DStv on SS11, SS12, SS13 and SS14 available to DStv Compact, DStv Compact Plus and DStv Premium subscribers.
Two-hour daily highlights will be broadcast on SS10, which is also available on the DStv Access package.
SuperSport says the plan is to try and broadcast every medal event live. In addition to the live action broadcasts, there will be two daily highlight packages: one for day time (10:00) and another for evening sessions (18:00), that will be repeated in prime time at 20:00.
As Queensland is eight hours ahead of South Africa, events typically run from 1:00 to 17:00 South African time.
The 21st Commonwealth Games opening ceremony will be on Wednesday, 4 April at 11:55, with the closing scheduled for 15 April at 12:25 South African time.
