Spin-offs of Game of Thrones will have big budgets and get more money than what the fantasy drama series got during its first few seasons, says HBO drama executive.

HBO's drama executive says the planned spin-offs from the hugely popular Game of Thrones series will immediately have bid budgets and get more money than what the fantasy drama series got during its first few seasons.

The 8th and final season of Game of Thrones will start in 2019 on M-Net (DStv 101) that will very likely also secure the spin-off series.

Francesca Orsi, HBO's senior vice president of drama, speaking on Tuesday in Jerusalem, Israel at the INTV conference at a panel discussion entitled "The Best of HBO", said that HBO has set aside big budgets for the planned Game of Thrones spin-offs that's bigger than what Game of Thrones had during its first few seasons.

HBO is planning around 3 to 5 spin-off series set in creator George R.R. Martin's fantasy universe.

"$50 million per season would never fly for what we are trying to do. We are going big," said Francesca Orsi.

About the upcoming 8th and final Game of Thrones season, Francesca Orsi said the table read of the final episodes with the actors "was a really powerful moment in our lives and our careers" and that viewers won't be left disappointed.
