National Geographic's new Jane Goodall documentary feature film, Jane, adding several off-TV and cinema screenings in South Africa.

The new National Geographic (DStv 181 / StarSat 220 / Cell C black 261) documentary about Dr Jane Goodall, Jane, made from archive footage will be getting some wider off-TV and cinema play in South Africa.

The documentary feature film uses recently found and unseen footage of the work that was done by Dr Jane Goodall in Tanzania's Gombe wilderness and her work with, and discoveries about, chimpanzees.

Jane, not previewed to TV critics, will be shown on National Geographic on 25 March at 20:05, but Jane will also get off-TV showings in South Africa as it has already been shown at more than 25 film festivals globally, including the New York Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival.

The Jane Goodall Institute will do a screening of Jane at an independent cinema in Mpumalanga on 17 March as a fundraiser, with Jane that will also be shown as the opening film of the Eco Film Festival on 22 March in both Cape Town (Labia) and Johannesburg (Bioskope).

The Pretoria University and Wits University’s departments of mammal studies will also be doing screenings of Jane on their campuses on 13 and 23 March respectively.

The Nat Geo Umsuka Project will be screening Jane for learners near the Cradle of Humankind at the Westbury Youth Centre as part of their outreach efforts to stimulate greater local interest in natural history and the anthropological sciences.
