eNCA briefly goes off air on Tuesday on DStv after an apparent lightning strike at its Hyde Park headquarters.

eNCA (DStv 403) unexpectedly went off the air on Tuesday early evening on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform, displaying only a test signal after lightning had apparently struck the Hyde Park headquarters of the eMedia Investment's news channel in Johannesburg.

On Tuesday after 17:00 eNCA suddenly lost transmission and switched to a static colour test pattern.

On social media eNCA confirmed that "eNCA is currently off air. Our technicians and engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconveniece".

MultiChoice, in quick response to a media enquiry from TVwithThinus, said "we are aware of the problem and working with the channel to restore the signal".

"It seems their office in Hyde Park was hit by lightning. They're working on restoring the signal from Cape Town. We hope to have a slide up on air soon if the live feed does not come back quickly."

It wasn't necessary for a slide since the eNCA live feed returned at 18:00 on Tuesday evening.

eNCA didn't explain what caused the channel's feed to be knocked off air. On social media eNCA only said "eNCA is now back on air. We apologise for any inconveniece."
