DStv replacing Electrosphere and New Age DMX audio channels with Trots Afrikaans and The Light; adding Ubuntu Radio.

MultiChoice is replacing the Electrosphere and New Age DMX audio channels on its DStv satellite pay-TV platform with Trots Afrikaans and The Light, and adding the Ubuntu Radio radio station from Tuesday 21 April.

The radio station Ubuntu Radio is being added from Tuesday to DStv's audio channel 888.

Ubuntu Radio, launched by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa (DIRCO) as an online radio station, it is described as "the first of its kind on the African continent".

Ubuntu Radio aims to exchange and express views to help tell African stories from an African perspective and to give a "fair and balanced representation of the work of the department and the government".

Electrosphere and the New Age audio channels on DStv are axed and is being replaced by Trots Afrikaans on DStv channel 815 and The Light on DStv channel 836.

The Trots Afrikaans DMX audio channel on DStv will play a mix of current and favourite Afrikaans contemporary songs, including songs from artists like Nicholis Louw, Kurt Darren, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Juanita du Plessis, Dozi and Theuns Jordaan.

The Light DMX audio channel on DStv will play an upbeat, mid-tempo and "joyful expression" of both Pop and Rock modern gospel tracks including songs from artists like Casting Crows, Britt Nicole, Tobymac, Chris Tomlin, Kari Jobe, Meredith Andrews and Josh Wilson.
