Animal Planet (DStv 183) has ordered 6 episodes of Alaska Gold Diggers, a new reality series about 5 Orange County women moved to Alaska.
Alaska Gold Diggers will follow SaraJane "SJ" Bartholomae from Newport Beach, who inherits 2 gold mines from her self-made oil and gold tycoon father, William "Popper" Bartholomae who was murdered when she was a child.
SaraJane and her daughters have decided to revitalise the family mines in Nome and Fairbanks which have been abandoned since her father's death.
Hiring local mining crews they try to get the mines up and running again 6 weeks before the start of the winter in Alaska.
"These women will stop at nothing until they realise their father and grandfather's dream of striking it rich in one of the harshest terrains on the planet," says T Group president Jenny Daly who executive produces Alaska Gold Diggers.
