Greece's public broadcaster back on television in Greece, but no longer as ERT.

Greece's public broadcaster is back on the air but not as ERT, whose international ERT channel feed of ERT World (DStv 432) still remains dark on MultiChoice's DStv platform after the sudden and shocking closure of the broadcaster a month ago due to Greece's austerity measures.

Greek Public Television is now displaying its logo on television screens in Greece, awaiting the launch of the new ERT which will be called NERIT, the Greek newspaper Ekathimerini reports.

Greek Public Television as an interim television service will show films and documentaries as well as a news ticker until the launch of NERIT - which stands for New Greek Radio, Internet and Television.

Legislation for NERIT will be debated after a bill or its creation was approved by a parliamentary committee late on Tuesday.
