BET is currently only available to South African viewers on rival On Digital Media' (ODM) TopTV pay-TV platform.
MultiChoice tested BET once before for DStv and said that BET "didn't test very well" - but of course audience and subscriber research is an ongoing proccess and channel content and programming changes over time.
BET has majorly beefed up it's schedule - it has The Wendy Williams Show which is the only American talk show which has the same day episode of America being seen in South Africa, as well as other newly-commissioned programming which is doing very well like Real Husbands of Hollywood.
"We are currently testing the BET," says MultiChoice, but cautions viewers and subscribers not to expect BET as a permanent addition.
"MultiChoice tests channels for possible addition to the DStv platform on an ongoing basis. We cannot at this stage confirm whether the channel will come on to the DStv platform, as the testing has not been completed."
MultiChoice recently signed a carriage agreement to carry FOX from Fox International Channels Africa (FIC Africa) from 9 April on DStv and which has only been available on TopTV the past two years.
